I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, and I must say that it was an extremely disappointing and unsatisfactory stay. The check-in process was marred by a lack of preparation and a complete disregard for my special requests.
Upon arrival at 4:30 PM, I was shocked to find that my rooms were not ready. It is highly inconvenient to wait for a considerable amount of time after a long journey, only to be met with unpreparedness. Moreover, to my dismay, each room was allocated on different floors, making it incredibly inconvenient and uncomfortable for our group.
Despite clearly communicating my request for the rooms to be located on the same floor, the hotel failed to accommodate this simple request. This lack of attention to detail and disregard for customer preferences is highly disappointing and reflects poorly on their commitment to customer satisfaction.
Furthermore, the cleanliness standards were below par. The beds were not properly placed in the rooms, and there were even signs that the rooms had not been adequately sanitized. This is concerning, especially in the current climate where cleanliness and hygiene should be of utmost importance.
Not only was the check-in experience a letdown, but the lack of proper communication and assistance throughout my stay further added to the frustration. The staff exhibited a dismissive attitude when I raised my concerns, showing little willingness to accommodate or rectify the situation.
the hotel attempted to rectify the situation by upgrading us to the Bader Suite, their efforts were ultimately overshadowed by ongoing shortcomings.
One of the main issues was the delay in receiving our luggage. Despite being assured that our bags would be promptly delivered to our rooms, we were left waiting until 10 PM before they finally arrived. This unnecessary delay disrupted our plans and added considerable inconvenience to our stay.
Furthermore, while the Bader Suite was indeed luxurious, it did not compensate for the persistently lackluster service we experienced throughout our time at the hotel. Even with the upgrade, the standard of service remained unchanged, and it was evident that the hotel was struggling to meet basic expectations.
Overall, my experience at Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri fell far short of what I had anticipated. Despite their attempts to make amends, the persistent delays, lack of preparedness, and subpar service left a lasting negative impression. I hope that the hotel management takes these concerns seriously and works towards improving their services for future guests.
As a result of these myriad issues, I cannot recommend Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri. The overall experience was far from satisfactory, and the level of service provided fell well below expectations. I hope the management takes this feedback constructively and improves the quality of service for...
Read moreThis Eid holiday, we opted for a local getaway and discovered the Shangri-La Hotel in Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi. We indulged in a 2-night staycation and here's how it went. The hotel was absolutely fantastic. Those two days were incredibly relaxing and well worth the drive from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.
Starting with check-in, the staff greeted us with a refreshing cold towel and welcome drink, which was especially appreciated in the summer heat. The staff members were exceptionally helpful and kind, going so far as to upgrade us to the Horizon Rooms. I've stayed in many hotels and resorts, but the team at this hotel truly stood out. From check-in to concierge, housekeeping, and the breakfast crew, everyone was courteous and ensured our comfort. The staff really make a difference in the guest experience, regardless of how luxurious the hotel itself may be.
Moving on to the room, we stayed in a Horizon room with a lovely balcony overlooking the beach and offering a glimpse of the Grand Mosque Abu Dhabi. The room was cozy and comfortable. The technical team even assisted us in connecting our laptop to the TV via HDMI, which was very convenient for us. The bathroom was spacious with a large bathtub, separate shower, and toilet cabins. They provided luxurious L'Occitane products in the bathroom, adding to the indulgent experience.
The swimming pool was enjoyable, although not exactly an infinity pool. It was shallow enough to comfortably float in. Evenings at the pool were busy, but mornings were more peaceful. One drawback was the pool opening at 8 am; an earlier opening around 6:30-7 am could attract more guests wanting to swim during sunrise.
The hotel has a well-equipped gym and yoga center, with separate facilities for men and women. There's also an exclusive yoga studio for weight exercises and yoga sessions.
A unique feature of the hotel is the Abra experience within the property. Small abras take guests on short rides around the property, offering a fun and enjoyable experience.
We only dined for breakfast at the hotel, and the quality and taste of the food were excellent. It was a typical, high-quality breakfast buffet with a variety of options. However, the breakfast menu was largely repetitive both days, and a lack of sufficient dish labels made it challenging to discern vegetarian from non-vegetarian options.
Overall, our stay was phenomenal. The Shangri-La Hotel provided a quintessential 5-star hotel experience and was well...
Read morePrice doesn’t match quality. Firstly, it’s not clear why hotel cannot invest in more sunbeds near pools (or at least bring a few from the beach area). During our 6 day stay in the hotel we never managed to get a sunbed near the pool. We had to stay at the beach and then walk to the pool every 10 minutes as it was extremely hot on the beach and sea water was very dirty (had some rubbish and debris circulating around, which would not make you want to swim). Many families simply leave their stuff on sunbeds and go away. One day I managed to spot a free sunbed. I sat on it immediately waiting for my friend to bring our belongings from the beach. However, in a minute another hotel guest and a manager came to me saying that they reserved this sunbed. It was very interesting to learn that the hotel apparently prioritizes some guests over others. I would like to ask hotel management what time we need to wake up on holidays to reserve sunbeds? Maybe include estimated time for wake up like 5am in your hotel description so that guests know in advance that they will not get sunbed if they like to sleep on holidays.
Secondly, there are two pools. You will not be able to have a proper swim in any because there are group of kids without any parent control. They jumped directly on me and my friend several times. Nobody said to them anything (neither parents nor life guard). I do not understand why there is no policy for kids? At least you could reserve one pool for adults only. Since it is not possible to swim in sea water anyway because of dirt, then reserve one pool for adults or limit permissible hours for kids.
Rooms and sunbeds require renovation. If sunbeds on the main beach are more or less okay, sunbeds on Amalfi beach are not only old but also dirty. As a minimum, I would expect clean sunbeds in the hotel of this level. Rooms “look” clean but if you examine certain details closer, you will understand that deep cleaning has probably been never done. In our case, curtains were all in dirt spots. It was disgusting to touch them. Similarly, a desk for ironing was very dirty. It seemed like rooms have never been renovated since the hotel opening.
In general, the experience with this hotel was more negative. I’ve been to Shangri-La on Mavriki, that had an impeccable service to high standards. Abu-Dhabi Shangri-La is just a parody. Don’t recommend for this price. But if you have kids, go for it. You will not notice the above mentioned...
