We were a party of 3 and we sat in the smoking section. The staff at the door greeted us with big smiles, which set a nice tone for the night.
We ordered a mix of dishes. The orzo soup for 25 AED was perfect, 10/10. Eggplant with garlic and vinegar, also 28 AED, was a solid 10/10. The baladi salad was also for 28AED it was fresh and flavorful, another 10/10. The mombar for 45 AED was crispy outside, packed with flavor inside, easily a 10/10.
We got two fried rice stuffed pigeons for 120 AED, juicy but I’d give them an 8/10 can’t beat the Farahat Cairo pigeons not the Farahat in Dubai, Hadoota is better than one for sure. The mousaka béchamel, small size for 40 AED, was tasty but I didn’t realize it came with a big plate of white rice with vermicelli, the rice ended up packed to go. The rice moamar was comforting, and the half grilled chicken for 48 AED came with vegetables instead of fries, plus tahini and pickles.
What really stood out was how fast the food came out. We barely had time to chat before the table started filling up. The service was amazing, attentive without being pushy.
We ended with tea with mint. Sitting there, sipping tea after so much good food, felt just right. Because it’s summer, and many families are on vacation, we managed to find seats at 6 pm on a weekend. Usually, this place is so busy you have to book ahead.
It was one of those meals where you leave full, happy, and already thinking about what you’ll...
Read moreHaving lunch here was an exceptional experience, perfect in every way. It allowed me to savor authentic Egyptian food that I have missed, making me proud to see such a good representative of our cuisine in Dubai.
Food : I tried the mesaqaa’a and meat escalope, both of which were flawless. The fries that accompanied the dishes were quintessentially Egyptian, and the ketchup, seemingly homemade, was outstanding. The rice was light and served in a good portion. However, the sautéed vegetables were a bit underwhelming. My companions sampled the mixed grill, which was cooked to perfection, and the akawi with kawaree’, a new combination for us that earned the chef high praise.
The interior : successfully conveys the essence of Egypt with its posters, authentic sayings, and colors. The decor is balanced, neither too dominant nor overwhelming, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.
Staff : The staff was incredibly friendly, lovely, and helpful. Their smiles created a warm and welcoming environment.
The restaurant and its staff show great attention to detail in everything they do. If I be suggesting one thing it would be introducing custom plates and eating pads, which would enhance the dining experience further.
Absolutely recommending this restaurant to Egyptians who miss our traditional food, as well as to Arabs and non-Arabs who want to explore...
