A dine-in Silicon Oasis Branch offering Chinese and Italian cuisine.
Ambiance: Its a medium-sized joint tucked in the corner of Silicon Oasis. When we entered we found the place to be empty for a weekend but they did have take-away orders that kept going on. The outlet has a spacious seating arrangement and can comfortably accommodate groups too.
Bite Board:
We were told that we could try a starter, a main dish and a dessert and sadly the pizza was not part of the same menu; so we could not try it!
So we stuck with the mains and a juice:
Beef Chili [AED 36]: Our server had mentioned that the dish was a dry once instead what we got served was a beef manchurian. The dish had too much of soya which made it quite salty and the beef was not prepared well making it hard to eat more than a few bites. We were disappointed, as it did not meet our expectations!
The meat serving was generous and could be shared amongst two with either fried rice or noodles.
Beijing Tofu [AED 27]: This dish brought some of our hopes back as the tofu was really creamy and melts in your mouth. We were told that it was a spicy main but maybe our palates are a bit stronger and we could not find any hint of spice. Nonetheless, it was a good choice!
Although we noted that the quantity was a bit less in comparison to the non-veg dishes.
Vegetable Hakka Noodles [AED 25]: As we had a vegetarian partner along with us and this was the only option with noodles we opted for it. The dish tasted bland on its own but the chili sauce that was served along made it turn tables and bring out some flavors!
Lemon Mint [AED 15]: This was a let down because the juice was more of a lemonade then what we ordered for. The lemon was way too overpowering and made it quite a sour deal to finish the drink.
Service: There was some confusion at the beginning about our tasting session being booked as the staff were unaware about our arrival but it was sorted out pretty quickly. We had a friendly server who was really kind when we took our own sweet time ordering and even re-heated our meal after our photo session!
Cash Outflow: We feel that the prices are a bit on the higher end for the overall quantity that is being served.
Circling Back: We had an average experience this time around, so maybe some time in the future we might give it...
Read moreI've had a bite of their dishes here and there whenever someone orders out and share it in the office but finally got to dine in and have a full meal when a colleague celebrated her birthday. and this is that experience.
Their signature food for us is their crispy beef, I've been to a lot Chinese restaurants especially back home in the Philippines but none them serves this dish, it's cooked in a head-scratching way because I can't fathom how it's done. It tastes every bit like beef and crispy through and through and yet it doesn't look like any beef I've had.
The other beef dish was fine, a generic beef in soy/oyster sauce, the rice is okay, and the only thing that didn't sit well with me especially this being a Chinese restaurant and all is their noodles.
The stir fried noodles have a smokey smell and taste to it which is quite but not in a good way, it doesn't make sense it has that and it doesn't add anything to its flavor profile, but since it's a tradition for us Filipinos to have one at birthdays, we just had to order one.
Conclusion: Can't go wrong ordering the crispy beef and the crispy spinach that we didn't order at the time of this review, both are genuinely unique, taste like Chinese food, and you can say you are eating food that you won't be able to cook at home, as for the rest, do take your chances if...
Read moreThe overall ambience of the restaurant is pretty descent. I have been a regular customer for past 3 years. I have most of their pizza and pastas. From Chinese menu I have tried home style fried rice, fish schezuwan, mix hakka noodles and much more.
Rigatoni Formaggi and futticine alfredo pasta are some of the best past as they have a perfect blend of sauce and creaminess. Most of the Chinese dishes are good.
Their Tiramisu dessert is also very nice. Highly recommend this restaurant to anybody who is looking for Chinese or...
