Saturday lunch. Food- salmon avo cheese on sourdough. Flavours good but tight on the smoked salmon, eggs could’ve been bit runnier. Service - waitress pretty rude. Making it clear she was very busy and everything seemed an inconvenience. But it’s the first time ever eating out that they did not have any knives to give with your meal and had to ‘source’ some. Food was very quick to come out. So maybe someone was off sick. But maybe better management of slowing service down so u could get on top of cleaning the multitude of tables that had dirty dishes on them to help ‘source’ some knives. Asking for kids warm drinks to be put in a takeaway cup as we hd finished our meals and they still were quite full. When returned in cups , said thanks but waitress just thumped them on the table didn’t look the road we were on and walked away. There was no hospitality/ smiles/ politeness about her. I get that days can be busy, understaffed and can’t get ahead of the game but when u work in a job that customer service is at the forefront of the game the service fully let it down today. Smiles and manners aren’t hard.
Had been for lunch previously there and had a completely opposite experience so thought be nice to treat my mum. But both of us walked away disappointed and if that had been my initial experience I would t have gone back. And I won’t b going back now either.
Atmosphere- there was a lovely buzz of people...
Read moreThe service and quality of food wasn’t very good.
15 mins for our order to be taken, two tables which were sat down after we arrived had their orders taken before ours.
We ordered a latte, pot of tea, maple bacon pancakes and the big breakfast.
The big breakfast was average, everything seemed to be lukewarm at best, the black pudding was excellent but everything else seemed to have been sitting out and wasn’t the best quality especially for the cost.
My girlfriend’s pancakes were a disaster, cold store bought pancakes with cold bacon and cold maple syrup, she took one bite and left the rest. When spending £12 on pancakes and bacon you expect them to be warm-hot and home made.
The service was very slow. When we spoke to the waitress about the pancakes she took them off the bill, I don’t think that really made up for the poor experience.
When I went to pay the bill, we didn’t receive an apology which again is the least you would expect for a poor breakfast experience.
My biggest issue is that we are expected to support local businesses, we could have gone to Wetherspoons and we probably would have been more satisfied with the food and...
Read moreFirst of all we arrived and were told they’d “run out of menus” even though there were only about 4 other tables occupied when we were seated. We were asked to use a QR code but the place has bad signal and the WiFi password is not on the tables. So our group all had to faff around on our phones.
The staff were inattentive from arrival to departure, which you can forgive if they’re busy but the group of 4/5 women were constantly stood behind the counter chatting not paying attention to tables.
Every time we needed something - including to order - it was an effort to get someone’s attention. My mum asked for extra hot water when our food arrived and it didn’t come until we’d finished our breakfast.
The restaurant claim they are a “purveyor of tea” but the breakfast tea was possibly the worst I’ve ever had. Weak and perfumed tasting.
We waited a while for food, which again you can forgive if it’s fresh but sadly it was luke-warm on arrival.
The place was cold, and badly needed to put the heating on - especially given its December.
It’s a nice little place but the experience, and tea, were bad enough that I wouldn’t return or...
