Rendezvous | Nargile — Restaurant in Aberdeen City

My husband and I have heard a lot of good reviews of the place, so decided to give it a try. The first thing we noticed was a horrible noise. We were sitting at a small table for 2 and literally couldn't hear each other speaking. The place is quite small, so, as many restaurants do, they squeezed as many tables as possible and on Saturday night the restaurant was full, of course. Please, don't get me wrong - me and my husband are late thirties-early fourties and we don't mind a bit of a buzz, but you normally go for that kind of buzz to a pub, not to rather expensive restaurant. We planned to have a relaxed night, enjoy the food and wine in a quiet atmosphere, but it was absolutely impossible to do there. Our only wish was to finish our food as soon as possible and run away from that place! We ended up not even finishing the main course, having it packed for us and we run! By the way, next day, having opened my packed venison from Rendezvous at Nargile, I noticed, that not all the meat I left on the plate had been packed for me - probably, they will sell my left-over venison to another customer, but don't worry, I haven't...

This for me is the best, most consistent restaurant in Aberdeen. It has stood the test of time and for over a decade turned out some amazing dishes and flavours time and time again. The menu is relatively simple, which helps with ensuring the food is the star. Sara, Diane, and the team always keep things to a high standard and you know what you are going to get here. Price wise, I think it offers good value for money, the portions are just right, without being either too small or far too big which is a difficult thing to achieve nowadays.. more does not always mean better.. Always enjoy eating at the Nargile. The other one has a much different atmosphere being darker and more cozy and quiet. This one was brighter and smarter but also a little noisier. So it depends on the occasion but the food here is just as good as the other restaurant. I had and always go for the zuafet sofrasi which is a big banquet where they fill the table with loads of different dishes of various flavours and then once you finish that they fill it again! And after that more food with a dessert! I always leave here satisfied and I eat a lot so no worries about small portions. The taste and quality of the food...
