The food as always was Fantastic. The service was extremely disappointing on this occasion. We arrived and were seated at a 4 seat table. We asked for somewhere further up and were reseated in a dark corner near the toilets. The whole restaurant was more or less empty at the time and we saw several other 4 seat tables that were unoccupied we asked for somewhere higher near to a window but on making the observation that there were many tables unoccupied we were given the most feeble explanation why we couldn't be reseated so we accepted our original seats. Our waitress was less than polite clearly picking up on the vibes of the service we'd received from the outset. We overheard her saying at one point "this is going to br a long day".... not aure if this was a reference to us and our innocent request or a genuine desire not to be even workingnon that day. She was curt with our kids and ourselves at one point responding to a 6 year old who was trying to ascertain that she'd heard his order in the most unseemly fashion snapping back at him. Ofcourse he's 6 so he didn't pay any mind but as parents we noticed it all. M&C has been a firm family fave for a long time but I must say this visit left a very sour taste in my mouth. A tragic shame as it was Easter Sunday and I'd used a work gift card to exchange for a M&C voucher which I have regretted since yesterday in spite of the delicious food. Our compliments to the Chef but sadly we won't be returning to the Cribbs branch of M&C. If I'm being honest I felt a though we'd returned to the deep south back in the days where our folk were not welcomed to dine in establishments such as this....

Unfortunatley we had a bad experience here tonight. We arrived at 6.35pm after booking a table prior. we sat down and the waiter Laurence came and took our order. We waited 40mins or so for our starter and it was delicious..however..2hrs from arriving at the restaurant we still hadn't had our main meal. When it did eventually arrive..it was cold..very cold. The other guests within the restaurant were as fed up as we were waiting so long for their food. Laurence agreed that the food was cold and unacceptable strait away..and took it away and said he wud get it changed but that the kitchen was very bizzy. We waited a further 20 minits and choose to pay our bill and leave as it still hadnt arrived. We got up and went out of the restaurant to the bar area to pay our bill. Just as we were leaving our food came out of the kitchen but by this point we had already ordered our taxi home. As we were paying Laurence came and said its here man..but my husband pointed out that we were leaving as given the experience and the waiting time we had had enuf - Laurence said he was patronizing him and continued to talk over my husband with a raised voice - again saying he was patronising him by leaving. What a angry man this waiter was.! This was totally uncalled for!! The manager asked if we wanted to take the then cooked food home in a takeaway bag!! No thanks. After been spoke to by Laurence like that we definitely will not be returning. - aside from waiting so long and the other moans from other customers about the waiting time..our whole experience wasn't good. We won't b back which is a shame as last time...

Booked a table for my wife & myself for my birthday lunch, on February 28th. Our table positioned against a wall with me sitting near a cold alcove, exit to a fire door. My wife's chair, sideways on to a table of 8 people, was constantly hit when diners left or returned to their table, or by the waitresses serving thier meals!

We both received our well presented but overcooked scallop starter - The wife thought they resembled overcooked pieces of chorizo!!! The main course meals were, the wife's hake & myself, a rib eye steak. Overall both the hake & steak were okay, although the accompanying deep fried (fatty/oily) type onion bhaji, didn't add to my enjoyment! The 'wedge' of lettuce was exactly as stated on the menu - a massive, what seemed like half a lettuce with a sparsely added mayo dressing & even more sparsely grated Stilton - What these added to the meal is somewhat debatable!!! I must admit, I did ask for the 'small' basket of chips to be of a good quantity, but didn't expect to be charged an extra £1.00 for the privilege!!! It was a nice gesture by Laurence, our waitress, to serve me a 'Happy birthday dessert' of ice cream & fruit, but this was the only plus point of my 'special day' & our first overall unfortunate impressions of the Miller & Carter brand, at Cribb's Causeway, Bristol. Perhaps booking the city centre restaurant may have been the better option, but I don't intend spending another £80 in finding out - In what seemed a high & over priced 'Harvester' without a...

My wife and I dined here on a Thursday evening. The layout felt odd as the restaurant is on various levels. We were seated midway up next to the kitchens. The interior felt rather grubby. The window had bits of mould on it with bits of silicone coming away from the frame and the carpet looked grim. The place was busy but our host was pleasant. I had prawns to start which were big and tasty. The main was just ok when it did arrive. Unfortunately we waited over an hour for our main (cote de bouef for 2). About 20 minutes before the arrival of the steak, we were presented with a sad bowl of lettuce to graze on, but why - it makes no sense to me? Now on to the steak, the edible bits were nice but a lot of it was too chewy. Also sounded like there was a party going on in the kitchen (not a criticism, just an observation) as we could hear lots of shouting/singing along to various tunes. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this particular Miller and Carter, given the choice of restaurants at nearby Cribbs Causeway that offer much better quality and value. On a side note, I also find it extremely odd the number of recent positive reviews from accounts with just 1 or 2 other reviews. I don't believe the average rating can be above 4 stars personally.
