£100 FINE FOR TAKING TOO LONG TO BREASTFEED MY BABY AND CHANGING HER NAPPY AFTER EATING On April the 28th, I visited this branch for lunch, accompanied by my two daughters (6 and 1 year old) and a friend of my oldest daughter (7 years old).
I received a £100 fine for being parked in McDonald's car park 109 minutes instead of 90 minutes. Please note that McDonald's manager, Damian, informed me during a phone conversation we had after I received my fine, that he had increased the allowance to 115 min as he personally considers 90 min to not be enough for this branch), that means my car was actually parked 6 min over the limit, instead of 19 over. McDonald's was extremely busy that day: long queues, not immediate tables available & reduce space to manouver with a pram. The only way to access the top floor is by a staff operated lift, I had to wait around 5 min for a member of staff to operate it for us. We finished our lunch & we had to wait a further 5 min for a staff member to operate the lift again. We purchased ice cream once we were on the ground floor. The access to the "only available" table on the ground floor, was blocked by someone else's pram. It took a while for us to manage to sit on that table due to the reduced space, despite the other family's effort to relocate their pram. We had our ice cream, I breastfed my baby, visited the toilet (including a nappy change) and left. Factors that contributed to us being inside McDonald's longer than expected: extremely busy time, shortage on staff to operate the lift, no tables available to accommodate 4 customers, extremely small branch when busy, the need to breastfeed and change my baby, slow touch screens, only one disability toilet available.... The 19 min over my car was in the car park (based on the 90 min limit) could have been avoided by McDonald's increasing their staff customers/ratio, lift facilities, disability toilets, etc... How much faster can you eat a meal and use the toilet? McDonald's Bognor Regis branch's infrastructure and staff numbers do not allow customers to cover their basic needs after having a meal. 90 min (or even 115 min) is not enough when busy. Also the parking signs are not at eye level, they are higher, only visible when you look up, which would be extremely dangerous to do, as it's a small car park, with no pedestrian path between the cars, constantly visited by families with small children. Even my husband had never noticed the signs before. None of the mums at school, or anyone I asked, had either. They are obviously not designed to be easily spotted by customers. MET (the company which runs the car park) has rejected my appeal, of course! 🤑 So has POPLA (funded by car parks! 🤔) Therefore, if MET decides to go ahead and take me to court for taking too long to breastfeed my baby and change her nappy, I'll gladly stand in court defending our rights as customers against abusive and greedy...
Read moreToday (10th oct ) I visited McDonald’s bognor and to say I was displeased with the service would be a understatement, I’m aware it’s Saturday and extra safety measures are being take.ln due to covid BUT the service was shocking , I decided to go in to store as was quite busy and queuing on road as it’s a sat at lunch time So I walked to the door where a family was being seen to by a lady with not great customer skills , the family was getting very annoyed with the lady as she wasn’t a great help getting them checked in with track and trace . I was behind family keeping distance while they was showed to there seat , I then moved out of the way so a lady could get past and for this the lady at front of house spoke to me very Rudely so I explained I was letting lady out she continued to talk to me like I was somthing she wiped off of her shoe , even customers behind commented how I got ‘told off’ now I have worked in McDonald’s I know can be stressful on a Saturday but I never spoke to any one like she did to me Then when was my turn to enter I was grunted at to use sanitizer which yes you have to do but I’m not a dog ? Now to be served there was no one at tills and I do not like using machines as I’m carer for mother in law and would rather not touch something that everyone has touched and would rather talk to a human , I was refused this option even though was a boy at till ? When I said politely I would rather not use them I was told get help ? So I walked out .. Now I never complain like I said Iv worked in McDonald’s and now I’m catering business owner my self and I no there is no need to be treated and have this experience any where especially one of the biggest chains of fast food ! I was in such good mood and after this lady I’m now fuming .... I drove to Chichester branch to get some actual human polite service rather then the arrogant jumped up women that was the first thing when you walk in to your store not exactly a good impression...
Read moreOrdered on the app, got to the restaurant, queue up in the two lanes. Choose the outside lane. Watch the car in front of me get increasingly mad at no voice coming out of the speaker, yet three cars go by in the other lane. He eventually joins the queue without ordering. I get there next, wait a couple of mins, no one speaking to me either. I drive on so I can order at the window instead. (Counter productive for your staff, I know). The lovely lad, Josh I think was his name, is clearly annoyed that his coworkers aren’t putting through orders. He asks if it’s the outside lane, I say yes. He goes to presumably tell someone off. He comes back apologises, takes my order. I get to the next window, I’m handed an order, it’s not mine, I hand it back. I get asked what I ordered by a girl who looks about 13. I repeat the order, she pulls out a receipt and asks if it’s my order, I’m amazed. I just told her my order and she gives me something that clearly isn’t what I’ve just told her. I say no, she becomes confused, calls over another girl, she might be 15, I repeat my order for the 3rd time. She bustles off, the queue in the drive through is ever extending, through the car park and out on to the road. Second girl comes back again, I repeat my order a 4th time. She comes back very quickly and gives me the order. I ask my partner to check the food (I’ve got trust issues at this point) it’s missing jam for the toasted teacake. I’ve already started moving, so I have to go back and call in the second window for jam. Someone brings me some. I drive off feeling not very relaxed for my delicious Sunday morning breakfast. I get home open the bag, no butter on the muffin for the teacake. And I’ve got a bacon and egg muffin, instead of the the double sausage and egg muffin, that I ordered and paid for. This one deserved some feedback, I hope you’ll excuse the dissertation, but I don’t think I’ll ever go back to McDonald’s Bognor...
