We visited for breakfast, food was very nice, coffee was very good and the decor is very nice, a massive amount of hard work has gone in to this place. I don't think I have been anywhere else in the area where everything is presented so well with so much thought and effort gone in to every aspect. It is very expensive when comparing with any other local similar option but you are getting a decent upgrade on decor/quality/surroundings. A huge amount of time and effort has gone in to the quality of the produce, the layout on the plates, the coffee and the entire decoration and it's sad to see two small things let if down; the ketchup bottle that I was given looked like it had rolled down a mountain a few times with the label throughly worn off in places and was very well faded, I would also guess that it wasn't Heinz in the Heinz bottle and it had been refilled quite a few times in its lifetime, I know people probably use too much ketchup, I know Heinz is expensive when compared to cheaper brands however you are charging ÂŁ12.99 for a breakfast so please just buy nice new Heinz bottles regularly it's just one of those things you have to do as a restaurant and any way that you try and skimp makes all your other hard work for nothing as it just creates a bad impression. The second thing is service charge of 12.5% for groups of 6 or more is in bold across the bottom of the menu, firstly I wouldn't really call 6 people much of a group, it's not unusual for families to be this size and is 6 people really a big problem? Surely you want as many customers as possible? I understand larger tables of customers are harder work to get everything out at the same time but the benefit of a table of 8 is that they are normally spending eight times more than a table of one? By putting 12.5% service charge for groups of 6 across the menu you are trying to either put those people off from visiting you ( seems crazy, surely you want as many people as possible đ€·đŒââïž) and/or you have some added cost to serve these people, I presume you would just all work a little harder as a team not have to call up an agency and call in extra staff every time you get a table of 6 people? Perhaps consider removing negative statements or signs as I guarantee that everyone who visits your restaurant which must be mainly tables of ones or twos reads this statement that doesn't apply to them and leaves a negative image in there minds even though they would never be paying it, Next time the menus are printed replace "A 12.5% service charge will be added for 6 or more people" with "we love groups of all sizes but for groups of 6 or more you may experience a small delay during busy times" or " we serve the best coffee in Ashford if you agree then tell your friends if you don't agree tell us!" Or "We use only the finest ingredients, and we hope you love our food and drinks as much...

After looking forward to a great brunch today (weâve visited previously) I promised the manager I would add a review on here
This is a new manager (the previous manager/owner is about to leave)
So my points of concern were:
Plates of food delivered to my children and after we said they were wrong they were left on table with a poorly child, while staff checked. They realised we were right took them back to the kitchen then 1 moment after left the kitchen and served the same plates to a nearby table.
Americano didnât arrive no big deal. After 20 mins let staff know - no big deal. But still didnât arrive. 20 mins later I had to go to counter to request it.
Breakfast 3 meals delivered 4th was missing and had to be chased and waited 10 minutes.
Aside from the first point the others are not good enough but not uncommon sometimes. although it was not busy (half full or less with staff hanging around the counter).
The ex manager expressed regret and was pleasant but said she wasnât the manager anymore and leaves next week.
The manager came to the table and with respect to him, the restaurant and other customers I suggested we speak elsewhere. You donât want other customers to hear this kind of thing.
Well , my goodness what a horrid man. He offered 10% but refused to shift on charging for the americano. He said itâs not his problem that they are busy and customers need to understand it. In regard to reserving plates he said thatâs what they do it didnât affect us because it wasnât our food. I obviously said 10 % discount was a joke. He then said I just want to complain not to pay the bill. Thatâs definitely not the case.
He told me I was going the wrong way about it and I need to understand. He couldnât reply when I asked how he thinks I should go about it. I pointed out another customer may have taken a different route, complained loudly in the centre of other customers.
Of course I paid and was happy to pay full price, but as I said to him, I wanted to give him the opportunity to hear the feedback and invite him to offer a goodwill. Like a free americano đ
Seems daft I know but it is relevant in case any one else is planning to go - the manager is not customer friendly , kitchen in disarray , and...
