This is an odd one as I was both very disappointed and impressed at the same time. We stayed 2 nights for a wedding and booked a standard room. I will start with the positives and list the negatives after. The staff were absolutely amazing and accommodating to every need we asked for. Polite friendly and honest. without such amazing staff this would have been a 1 star review !. but thanks to them for the hard work they put in. Only because of them and the great location this hotel offers is why I would visit again, and I only live an hour away but as I was drinking and out it made sense to get a hotel vs taxis. Now for the negatives. The A/C in our room did not work at all. The Hotel from the outside is a little tired and dated for a 4 star hotel. The main Lobby is nice but the Carpets in the rooms and décor are again very dated. These can be forgiven however the little details like the TV was old and not a smart tv, as people in are 30s it was like a time warp seeing Tv powered by an Antenna. The next gripe was the room did not have a fridge but did have a kettle. We found this very odd for a 4 star hotel. Even if it at least was a mini fridge with things to buy it would have sufficed but no fridge for water or anything was bewildering. The breakfast was not bad you do get what you pay for. The dinner at the restaurant was well below standard. We had really dry burger patties and buns along with dryer chicken wings with the tiniest amount of sauce you have ever seen inside the burger. The drinks were also watery we felt. Overall this is a 2 star hotel with 4 star service in a good location. A few small changes could really lift this place to the next level. If I were to visit again as it currently I would stay and enjoy the facilities but avoid the food and drinks as there are loads of choice's nearby .

SPA REVIEW: I didn't stay as a guest, but had a gift voucher for a spa day and used it here. At times I was ready to 1 or 2 star this experience, but things did improve in some places. Overall, it's not a luxury experience. It's a slightly shabby spa experience. The one jacuzzi was out of order; the 'experience shower' was a low pressure, irritatingly sporadic shower with a red light on; the hot stone loungers weren't hot; the swimming pool is the hotel pool so was a little busy. When we went to lunch, 150 business delegates in suits were waiting to access the same buffet as us, and it took 6 of us several attempts to get them to come up with an alternative solution to joining the queue in our robes! And I do mean 150. The waiting staff told us. So here's where it turned around from a 1 or 2 star experience. They did get us seated directly, and served us at the table instead of us going to the buffet. The food was nice (though the portion of main course was very small). The vegan option was curry. I was served a prawn cracker (yes, ONE prawn cracker, it covered the bowl, that's how small the portions were) and queried if it was vegan. At first they said yes, but then that maybe they should check, and it wasn't. Anyhow, after lunch, we had our 50 minute included treatment. It only lasted 40 minutes not 50, but it was an excellent treatment. I had a back massage and exfoliation, and a facial. I enjoyed it, and the relaxation room was nice, but the rest was just average. Overall, it's probably good value because you're getting the treatment included, BUT, don't expect a luxury experience. Just go for a swim, sauna, steam, small lunch, and look forward to the treatment as the real reason you spent the money.

I had a spa package which included an afternoon tea with a glass of Prosecco. The massage was nice enough, however I wasn't given the full time I paid for, fell about 5 mins short. I think they should ask people to speak in hushed tones in the relaxation room, if they expect people to relax in it (guests and staff) In regards to the afternoon tea. I don't think they should offer them, if they can't do them properly. Even though booked, the bar person had no knowledge of the booking. They checked and finally brought out a selection of teabags, the cups and hot water followed not longer after that. It was then another 50 min wait until the cakes and sandwiches came out. There was no explanation why it had taken so long and when it came out it was baffling why it had taken the length of time it did. The selection of sandwiches for two people was pitiful. I asked if this was for two and the bar person asked the kitchen, when they came back they said the kitchen had said I'd only paid for one person. I told them it was incorrect and I'd paid for two people, they checked with the kitchen again and came out to say it was for two people, strange that i got 2 different answers. There were four finger sandwiches, which we had to split in two, so that we had a bit of each. There was also no sign of the Prosecco, so I said to the bar person, we're supposed to get a glass of Prosecco with this, they responded 'yes, did you want it?' Why would I pay for it and then not want it? If I hadn't of asked I wouldn't have gotten it. Terrible service and I can and will not recommend the afternoon tea from here.

DO NOT BOOK THE SPA RELAXATION EXPERIENCE!! POOR AND MISLEADING! My wife booked the spa day for me as a surprise thinking it would be a nice bank holiday retreat. The website looks pretty good especially the way they advertise the facilities, however it is far from it. We arrived at 11am where we was provided towels and robes for the spa treatment. We was told that our meal would be served between 12-2:30pm where we was then presented with a sheet to tick the appropriate foods we wanted. My wife is Vegetarian and I have no dietary requirements. We had chosen to remove one item from either dish and asked for extra chips which would be at a cost which is fine. When we got into the changing rooms they were of an average standard however the toilets were awful and looked like they had not been maintained at all. When we got changed we went into the Swimming Pool area where there was lots of kids jumping into the pool and it was very busy. 6 beds poolside with limited seating and coat hooks for robes fallen off the walls. The Sauna Bench is broken, and the Jacuzzi out of action. NOTHING RELAXING ABOUT IT! Please note this is basically a leisure centre not a Spa & Well-being place to relax for anyone thinking of it as a retreat. There were tiles missing on the relaxation beds (2) situated in between the Sauna & Steam room with tiles missing and uncomfortable to sit on. We entered the pool and within minutes were kicked out as a water aerobics class was taking place which we were not told about! We left the poolside area and dried and got to our meal for 12, where we were told then that the restaurant does not open until 12:30. We decided to wait in the Eden Lounge, which is a run down room with a coffee machine at the back (run down travellodge vibe) and the complimentary tea and coffee was awful. The ceiling tiles were falling apart and cracked, with dust on the radiators. We returned to the restaurant for 12;30 where we were the first people in the restaurant. I asked for an Orange Juice where I was told there was none, and we waited for our food. The room filled with other (not so happy) spa relaxation guests where a young gentleman with big perm like hair came out to serve. They served the entire room before eventually getting around to me and my wife. My wife’s plate had no olives as they were placed onto my plate with the chicken. The Salads were FROZEN and was a plate of runner beans. The chips were served 5 minutes after we finished our meals! We are now at 2pm by the time we leave the restaurant! They then bought out Orange Juice for another couple. We had treatments booked and all the staff were giving us wierd looks and disinterested in being at work! Clearly not a well run place, so we left before the treatments even started! We have never left a spa day early but we could not get settled and did not feel comfortable being there. We are usually the type of people who always make a go of any situation but it was just not for us! We wanted to enjoy our day off and bank holiday but felt it was wasted at this facility. My wife returned to the women’s changing rooms where she mentioned the changing rooms smelt like sanitary bins has not been emptied.

If you are looking to book this facility I would stay well clear. If you do not take my word for it you will have a poor time here and regret it. We don’t like giving poor reviews ever as we like to see businesses do well, but unless they change their facilities and try not to mislead everyone then we feel this post...

have had to shorten this a lot as it was so awful I can’t fit it all in! Arrived late for a spa day with my wife as a first get away after having our baby due to operation brock! Was barked at by receptionist for being late and told one of use wouldn’t get full treatment. Wasn’t told where anything was and petered for payment I’m not sure why payment isn’t taken when you book online? I only got a 25 minuet massage instead of 50 but this was the only redeeming part of the day other that the run down massage room. for whatever reason everyone else went in together but me and my wife had to wait separately so I had to wait around for 50 mins! no sooner had she gotten up from her massage she was then pestered for payment so I went and paid. Then had no idea how to get to the pool area so once again had to ask and they told me acting like I should know. We both commented on how dirty the changing rooms felt and there was mould and marks in the ceiling from previous leaks. There was also a potted plant attempting to cover a gaping hole in the wall. The pool was an okay size, the sauna was broken which yes you can’t odds but when the other facilities where so awful it did. The hot tub was only big enough for two people comfortably if you didn’t know the other people you wouldn’t want anymore let’s put it that way. the steam room was okay and there was an “experience shower” which was a hot a cold shower with lights that the shower heads where half blocked with limescale. We also had an afternoon tea included in the package which we were told wasn’t available till 2pm but we arrived at 9am and was hats about really to leave by mid day. We then struggled to find where to have this as no staff seemed to know. We eventually found it in a bar area at the front which the staff had no idea why we was there and didn’t know if we could have the tea early if we couldn’t have we would have simply left. eventually they agreed to let us have it early even tho people that showed up after us where sitting down to have there’s before us? The selection was okay but the quality just as disappointing as the rest of the visit. Dry sandwiches and cakes from I assume a packet and the scones so dry you couldn’t spread cream of jam on them without them crumbling. The atmosphere was awful and dead quiet with business men having zoom meetings on laptops all around you. Safe to say we left pretty quick after paying an extra £4.50 for a pint of lemonade. In short this is a up market travelling business person hotel that had a pool and small hot tub that thinks that means they are a spa! As I say massage was great but every other aspect was awful and didn’t make up to the nearly £200 price tag! No refund offered just offered to return for free use of spa facilities, you couldn’t pay me to come back! Just a partial refund would be greatly received but by the looks of things I’m not alone. AVOID,...

The tea for afternoon tea arrived at 2.20pm The food arrived at 2.42 by that time I had finished the tea so I asked for more. Finger sandwiches were, egg mayo, cheese & pickle, tuna & sweetcorn and ham and mustard. See pictures the crusts were only partially taken off and the bread was dry. I asked the waiter if the crusts were supposed to be taken off, his reply was yes, I showed him all the crusts and took a picture. I left the crusts along with a picture. The 3 mini cakes were ok. But the scones. One was ok but the other was dry and I left most of it. |Booked in the room is good, went to the bar for a well-deserved Long Island Iced Tea, guess what they don't do it, so I ordered the spirits and made my own in a pint glass. Nice and strong. I then went to the spa. The lift to the area is not working and the jacuzzi is not working. So only a|small pool, steam room, and sauna, so not good. Hopefully, my evening meal will be good. |I ordered the warm potato bread roll with sea salt butter. Duck Liver parfait with cinnamon granola and toasted brioche bread, I would have preferred the crunch to come from the brioche, which was soft. The main I ordered was Chicken Schnitzel without the fries but with onion rings it came with a watercress & parmesan salad with a truffle mayonnaise. No watercress just lettuce, rocket, parmesan & the dressing. I ate the Parmesan. The Schnitzel was thin but not sure if the chicken was precooked cooked then breaded. Sadly no room for dessert, but I'll look for tomorrow. Now for the buffet breakfast tomorrow normal hot breakfast layout, some extra choices on the menu. What I had was fresh and hot.|Went for lunch in the bar I chose the soup and sandwich combo. Soup was roasted red pepper and tomato with a swirl of herb pesto this was good. I had a Prawn Marie Rose sandwich. I seem not to like the bread, the generous filling of prawns just about covered the bread so I just ate them. The prawns were not soft they had the moisture squeezed out of them as if quickly defrosted then squeezed. Ah well, last meal tonight in the à la Carte restaurant see what that brings.|Not feeling hungry so I just ordered the same soup that was in the bar earlier but something different about it, I think it was lumpy. I then had the raspberry delice this was nice and refreshing because of the sorbet served with it.|All the staff in every area were very professional and helpful. I did voice my complaint regarding the afternoon tea quality to the barman and also the reception when I...
