Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Babergh

I usually have a lovely lunch here but on Thursday I was served by someone very rude and had a luke warm hot chocolate. I believe the girl was called Ashlea. First of all I waited at the till for a couple of minutes with no sign of anyone and when she finally appeared there was no apology just a blank look on her face as if I was being an inconvenience. I then ordered my hot chocolate and toasted sandwich. I paid and then I had to ask her if it was going to be toasted. She then grabbed it and popped it into the toaster. My friend ordered as I waited for my hot chocolate off of her. I then got a hot chocolate shoved onto the side with no words. Whilst my friend was waiting for her coffee Ashlea had not popped the cup in the middle so the coffee was going over the side. My friend advised that this had happened. Ashlea said nothing and in a clear mood that she did not want to be there grabbed the cup and shoved another one there. As for my hot chocolate it was not hot... but I didn't have the time to wait for another one and I did not want to inconvenience the girl that served us....

We had cake and coffee here, which were fine, I decided to indulge myself and get a mango iced tea. Don't EVER get one here!!!! They do NOT know how to make it and just gave pure syrup with ice... it was revolting and the worst I have ever tasted. I explained, and they offered to make it again, but I was 100% put off ever having this drink again, so I got a skinny latte, which now I've paid over the odds for. Generally the store is very clean, the toilets are clean and well maintained and the coffee and cake were okay, just don't bother with iced...

I think they've managed Covid requirements well; the space was clean and tidy, not crowded, 2m marks on floor and hand sanitiser available. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is the staff lack of knowledge misinformation. While I appreciate the staff being cautious, it was not the correct information. I found the information, from the Costa Twitter, yet it was unavailable to the staff. Just incase you're wondering- the hot chocolate is vegan aslong as you order it with non-dairy milk, no cream & no choc sprinkles (not sure on the choc...
