I’m a fan of John Dory’s and have always ranked it up there with the best especially from the Castlereagh/Ballygowan Road junction outlet. Tonight I ordered a cod supper from the Holywood Road Dory’s amongst other items. The cod was literally rotten and had been marinated in vinegar before battered and fried. After a few bites before I realised I was vomiting in my daughter’s house which is nearby. Now we have got from here many times before and it’s been excellent so why risk destroying your reputation for the sake of losing out on a piece of out of date fish by pulling a ‘fly one’ and selling it to a loyal customer. Now I’m not going to condemn John Dory’s for some person’s misjudgment this time but you need to think on, not worth destroying your business for the price of one...
Read moreIt's incredibly greasy, it always was but used to be much less so when it was further down the road, but since moving to this location it's just unbearably greasy.
I only eat here when I'm visiting family and they order it in but, this past year or two, every time I feel sick. Grease coats the back of your throat, so much grease I feel like my heart is going to stop. There's more grease in one chip than John Travolta had in his hair.
Even the un-battered chicken tastes like it's been deep fried.
Also just standing in the place was enough to make my clothes reek, and I do mean reek, of oil. Standing in there for twenty minutes was enough to make my skin and clothes oily, the poor staff must be like the krusty burger...
Read moreThe place was packed, the person taking orders wasn’t paying attention, the staff were miserable, the chips undercooked and overpriced, and I’ve had better battered fish from the frozen section of Tesco.
Also parking is hellish at the Boulevard so if you’re gonna get a John Dory’s maybe go to the Ballyhack one….
Since moving from the petrol station, this John Dory’s has gone from being mostly pretty reliable to awful.
I won’t be back. I only went here the other day because Codzilla on Belmont Road was shut for Xmas...
