Dil Tandoori — Restaurant in Basildon

This place is surreal but not in a good way. They're not licensed to sell alcohol so they tell you to walk along to the off license if you want anything to drink. They neglect to mention this when you book or on their site. When you are seated, you will be almost rubbing elbows with the person at the next table as the individual tables are spaced approximately 6 inches apart. This is no exageration, you actually have to move the tables for people to be able to sit down or get up. To add to this the staff, there are 3, aren't very perceptive as to the fact that you want them, you have to get up and approach them or shout. When they do finally approach you to order your food after 20 minutes or more, don't expect them to rush the cooking. Our order took an hour for them to serve and it wasn't anything that required time to make. The phone was always ringing and orders being taken over the phone for take aways. They seemed more concerned with this than the people they had inside. The food is ok at best but not exactly packed with flavour and definitely not worth waiting an hour for. The toilets are a bit poor with the flush button missing from the top of the cistern and a tiled bit of plasterboard to seperate the male and female cubicles. We won't be going back again, all in...

I've added the photos of what we ordered and tbh it was poor all round. There was no flavour in the Rogan Josh (pictured 1st) the Vindaloo had 5 pieces of meat and the rest was potatoes. The Sag had no depth of flavour, and the Dahl tasted dusty all in all we won't be going back . The only thing I could taste was the rice which was home made with a star anise and toasted cardamom. I think the photos tell the story watery Rogan no fresh herbs or chilli the tomatoes that were so finely chopped they were unrecognisable , just all round disappointed.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!! Every time I get something ordered they can’t find my address and then expect me to come and collect it they then said give us another try please don’t give up on us. Which we did and only ordered Five items and they forgot the popadoms they then said come down and we will give you eight we live at least 10/15min drive from them why would we go back and collect it! We will NOT be eating from here anymore which is a real shame because we have been going to them for years and they WAS GOOD! I would advise everyone to go...
