Taj Mahal Restaurant — Restaurant in Basildon

Service and staff were great. Venue looked nice, but I had a take away. However that is about the only good things I can say. The food was tasteless and a disappointment to real Indian cuisine. The bhuna sauce tasted of onion with a splash of tomato, with very tough lamb. The chicken curry was bland and tasteless. The stuffed paratha was a big mush in oil. The biryani had a good flavour but next to no meat in it and the vegetable curry was bland and watery. To top it all off I realised as I was leaving that the restaurant has a 2/5 star food hygiene rating! I really hope I don't have an upset stomach in the morning. Needless to say, we won't be back which is a real shame as I had high hopes...

We stopped using in first lockdown due to portions being smaller and no freebies as expected in those times. Then did not return as saw poor reviews bout cooked food etc. But we used them on 1/3/21 and can say they are back on the game perfect portions perfectly cooked very tasty got the additional freebies arrived in good time will be going to order from out favourite local Indian again we have missed them (REMEMBER SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS AS IT CAN GO...

Ordered over £20 on sunday to get free chicken tikka went to collect . came home .
