We won a raffle prize, a two course meal for two, with a bottle of house wine. A great prize. No stipulation of days or times on voucher. I rang on the evening to check we could use the voucher and to see what time service was until. I got no answer so left an answerphone message. We received no return call but as we were looking forward to the evening headed there. We ordered at about 8.20pm. My partner was on his third pint when i asked a waiter "how long was our meal going to be?" We were told "5 mins" ... a waitress then came by and said "im so sorry for your wait, we'll gwt your order out urgent" . Two minutes later she returned saying "I'm sorry, the kitchen hasn't got your ticket, what did you order?" ... i told her and pointed out the original person i placed the order with. The order was put through as urgent, another apology made and a complimentary drink given. We were accepting of the apology, mistakes happen. The meal was pleasant. We had ordered our dessert at the same time as our meal as part of our prize. My partners plate was cleared, with my meal then finished the waitress came to the table with her hoody on stating "I'm off duty now bit I'll take that for you!" I replied "we've still got desert to come" to which her response was "are you joking?" .. she cleared the plate but we didn't see her again. The gentleman who took our original order, of main and dessert, came to clear some empty glasses. The time was now 10.40pm, we were past eating dessert. I said " we'll have an iou for the dessert then?" . A conversation was had with is explaining that we sometimes bike ride in the warmer weather for a couple of drinks, he cleared oyr glasses, then made himself busy, avoided eye contact anymore and left an awkwardness. We left with no dessert, no iou and an embarrassment that made us feel we trying to have something we weren't entitled too. A generous raffle prize resulted in a...
Read moreMy partner & I had lunch at this pub on Sunday. The lad who showed us to our seat in the restaurant area was very polite and welcoming, however the food and service to follow was very disappointing. I ordered the siroin? steak (rare) and my partner ordered the Gourmet burger. We also ordered a side of onion rings. The busy waitress approached our table at speed, shouting, "steak, steak" so we quickly made space for both meals. As she dropped my plate onto the table, she then ran off to assist a table nearby. No offer of any sauces or mustard. There was only vinegar, on our table. It was necessary for me to go to the bar (took 5 minutes as bar area was very busy) in order to ask for English mustard, and I also pointed out that our onion rings hadn't arrived. 5 minutes later, my mustard was delivered to the table but still no onion rings. By this time, my partner had nearly finished her meal, (nice food but small portion) and I only just started mine, which by now was going cold. The fries and salad were ok but the steak was very disappointing. I question as to whether it was sirloin, but if it was it was a very poor cut. Quiet simply, it was totally inedible. It was near impossible to chew and very gristly. Onion rings arrived as I had to politely remove the chewed up gristle from my mouth. Dawn came to remove our plates and upon hearing my partner politely complain, she offered us free drinks or a desert. We declined this offer, but nothing further was suggested by Dawn. The restaurant was not overly busy and there was no need for delays in food being brought out nor poor service. However the bar staff were very polite and approachable. We shall not be revisiting nor recommending for food, but shall mention it is a welcoming...
Read moreMy Mum, Auntie and I booked a table for 3 here. All details given, yet the girl at the front door when we came in was adamant we had to give our details for track and trace all over again via the QR scanner and she wasn't inserting it herself(not an issue in other places we have visited). When we ordered our food, the chicken burger and hunters chicken were both fine, the soup was not nice at all and resembled dishwater. There was no offer of something else instead. She just took it away and said "oh really" We had a taxi booked to collect us at 10pm so we could have a good catch up. There was one particular barmaid/waitress who was being extremely rude to us. We had just given payment so knew last orders were being given, but she came again at 9.30pm to tell us to start drinking up. We already mentioned we had a taxi booked for 10pm. She responded with "Well I'm just telling you" then walked away. She kept walking up near us glaring at us which made us feel very uncomfortable. We went to stand outside, but it was extremely cold and still 15 minutes till closing so came back inside till our taxi was to arrive. She barked at my mum and auntie to sit down because rules are rules. My Auntie had respiratory issues having been in recovery from covid so took her mask down to breathe a little easier...when we walked out the door, the young man behind the bar shouted " I hope you get covid" on the way out. This is absolutely disgusting behaviour and attitude to your customers. My Auntie and my Mum deserve a full apology from the staff who were on last night. 27th...
