Wickford Cafe Restaurant — Restaurant in Basildon

Good food and a small sheltered pavement area to sit outside and dine. Food and service exceptionally good. We visited on two occasions recently. One visit we both fish and chips with the usual trimmings mushy peas etc. Good tasty fish, though a processed cod portion. On our second visit one of us had a chicken salad, that was amazingly good particularly the marinated freshly cooked chicken chunks. It will be hard to beat the flavour. I had a taste and remain envious. My choice was Gammon Ham with chips, beens and egg. It was well presented, beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection. We popped into the Wickford cafe & Restaurant today, and we were served by a welcome young lady Name of Holly, she was very helpful.

We had a nice cup of tea 🍵 and I had a cooling orange 🍊 juice. And we sat outside with the sun shining with a little breeze Just to make it comfortable

The Wickford Cafe & Restaurant Is a wonderful big place for all your family. And the prices are amazing Nice and not to expensive. So come down and have a refreshing drink or something scrumdidlyumptious to eat And all the staff are very friendly and welcoming

I ordered once I'd got the attention of the owner, who was conversing with a man in a foreign language in the corner. Then was charged £8 for a sandwich and some juice, somewhat more expensive than the menu quoted. The sandwich was on white bread, probably my fault as should have specified I wanted brown, but would have been nice to have been asked as well since it was made to order. Chicken salad filling was chicken with tomato, cucumber and lettuce, a bit tasteless. I can say the food was fresh so that's a positive that stopped me from rating one star.
