Cromwell Tandoori — Restaurant in Basingstoke and Deane

Awful. We booked a table for 3 people at 6pm. We arrived and there were 2 other small tables before us plus about 3 people waiting to collect takeaways. We have eaten here prior to the take over and never had a problem. We had a new menu posted through the door so thought we would give it a go. We had been sat down for about 20 minutes before anyone came and took our order. It was another 20 minutes before drinks arrived. I assume the gentleman behind the bar was the new manager and he was more interested in answering the phone and taking orders instead of those of us sat in the restaurant. There was a lady behind the bar who did very little and kept saying to people it wasnt her job so she could not help, she did not appear to do anything though. An hour and 40 minutes before we got our starter.....by this time the manager was telling people it would be 50 minutes to an hour before they got served!! Several tables got up and walked out, people came in to cancel takeaway orders as it had been 2 hours and still no food. People were still waiting after 2 hours to collect takeaways, when they asked for a refund they kept being told their food would be 5 minutes. Customers came back as the takeaway orders were wrong or missing dishes. The food was lovely, really tasty but we ended up being there for over 3 hours in the end!! If you are short of staff stop taking phone orders or shut the restaurant but most important of all let your customers know there is an issue and there is a long wait...

Unfortunately after moving into area a few weeks ago, this restaurant came highly recommended. So to tonight is my first order. Was advised on phone at 19:00 it will be an hour and 20 minutes due to them being busy. To which I can quite understand being a Saturday night. Now had to call again as no update from restaurant but food may be another 30mins :( Which now takes it to 2 hours. Having a great relationship in Farnborough over a number of years, I'm concerned already. Let's hope the food is actually hot when it finally arrives. Not to happy, My daughter has just called to be advised it's going to be another 15-20 minutes. We ordered at 18:55 Hopefully you all have more luck as never have had this issue from local restaurant in Farnborough. Least we know who not to order from in the future. 18:55 :( Now 21:45 and still no food Gutted, let's hope other takeaways actually tell you the truth with what's going on. Food finally turned up at 21:50, starters cold Plain Naan missing. Gutted just moved into area and waited nearly 3 hours for cold food. Hopefully manager/ owner can view this as been absolutely terrible. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE, coming from dad of daughter who has just moved here. NEARLY 3 HOURS TO HAVE COLD FOOD DELIVERED AND MISSING...

It's been about a year since I last visited and there has been some changes. I also learned they are partnered with Raj of the BlackDam.

They've decided to not renew their alcohol license in favour of more tables, This means you can bring your own or go to Tesco next door and get your own!

The menu stayed the same but I think the chef has changed as now Keema has had red food dye added, Keema is just spiced minced lamb and is only red from food dye. Also the Special Balti I ordered contained 1 king prawn, 2 prawns, 1 small piece of beef and no lamb and what looked like thin strips of chicken thigh meat.

My wife ordered the same and had the same amount of meat plus a small selection of Veg. She could not eat all of hers and so asked for it to be put in a take out container, That evening my wife discovered her Balti remains had been swapped for something else which we just binned as it was not Balti. The service was great, very attentive and polite.
