Kitty’s Coffee Shop & Candies Sweets — Restaurant in Basingstoke and Deane

Just finished a morning catch up with my Mum at this venue and was really disappointed. We both ordered the rise and shine breakfast and recognised the cheap meat as it was being walked over to us. I could have bet money on the sausages being the Richmond brand which contain less than 40% meat inside and are packed full of salt, sure enough did they taste it. The bacon was so thickly cut and smoked it’s all I can now taste. The drinks were good but food terrible and service was awkward and unwelcoming. Our waitress looked afraid of us and we were never even asked whether we were actually enjoying our experience. The environment wasn’t exactly child friendly either as there was nothing for children to do. Considering the small environment you’d expect some small toys or colouring at least to entertain them whilst they are waiting for the food. Safe to say I left £20 lighter and with the view of never returning. Real shame as the previous reviews had set my expectations up for a delightful brunch, oh how...

I would say that Kitty's is a good place for afternoon tea or coffee and cake. I've heard nothing but good reviews but I wasn't impressed. My daughter spilt her milkshake and it went everywhere. No help was offered to clean it up, I would have declined, but the offer should have been there. I do believe what looked like the boss, was standing at the till asking for cake which both him and the waitress deemed more important. I wasn't keen on my breakfast, sausages tasted like they were gone off and it was really expensive. The salted caramel cheesecake looked an and tasted an awful lot like the one you can buy at Costco. The electric kept cutting out and when I went back to my car, pigeons had pooped all over my car because the only place to park was under a tree. An absolute gem of a place in Basingstoke. Wonderful staff that welcomed with a warm smile. The milkshakes were amazing and the food, honestly was fantastic and I seriously can't explain how tasty everything was! The mac and cheese was delicious and the toasties were fresh, filled with brie and again tasted amazing.

I really do recommend coming here and experiencing the wonderful food, the little sweetshop and those that like knitting they have a brilliant selection of wools, knitting accessories and patterns.
