The Village Bakery — Restaurant in Basingstoke and Deane

I called to make a big order of Bacon Rolls. The lady who answered the phone was very short and rude. I was told I had to pay in advance. Perfectly acceptable. However because this order is for a work event I had to speak to my Manager before going ahead with the order. Once I had conformation from my hierarchy on the payment and how many to order, a colleague of mine took on the task as I am currently off. My colleague was poorly dealt with and the same woman who I had previously spoken to answered the phone. She said 'I spoke to you yesterday my answer is still the same' in a very impolite manner. My colleague went on to try and explain it wasn't specifically her she had already spoken to. She then got very argumentative that she had already been asked this question. I am very disappointed in the lack of service we have been given and it is such a shame as we have heard good things about their food. Just goes to show poor customer service makes...

From when you enter this shop, the two ladies are quite moody and give off vibes that they are just their because it's their job, not because they take any pride in what they do. Ordered some crusty rolls and a "hot" sausage bap. Now I don't know about the rolls being crusty rolls, I would way they are rolls that have just been left in the oven too long and gone hard. They're really not what you'd expect for crusty rolls. Notice how I put "hot" like that? The sausages are warmISH, taste like the ones you get in Iceland 40 for £3. Very cheap, basic sausages. It's not often I will leave a negative review, but I feel that when it's deserved then I will. The same as I would for somewhere I'm really impressed with I'll give a good review. Save yourself the trip and go to co op across the road, or if you don't mind a 15 minute drive go to Burbidges in Andover. Wouldn't return to this bakery. Disappointing food...

Not impressed with the unfriendly service. Only wanted 6 hotdog rolls but was told I had to buy 12. Apparently their rolls freeze really well. I hate to break the news to them but all rolls freeze really well. Anyway, I like to support the independent store owner so bought them anyway. Well, I landed up being completely ripped off!! £7.20 for a dozen!! Tescos = £2.20/doz. Completely lost me as a...
