I ordered the desi breakfast with the shakshuka and daal, butter chicken and keema mattar rolls. The pic of the shakshuka on instagram looked good. I got mine as a takeaway. Was v disappointed. Portion of shakshuka was tiny, cold and the egg yolk hard. Tasted like a poached egg surrounded with tin tomatoes and sprinkle of herbs. The daal had a layer of oil on top and again portion small. Had half a dry roti left. Butter chicken wrap had no taste. Keema mattar was ok. But again needed more flavour. Karak chai was excellent, i cant complain about that. I could see from the constant kitchen door opening and closing that the samosas are shazans so that was also disappointing to know they arent made on site.
I spent a while waiting, but saw the woman serving bag my stuff up, then wander off into the shop looking for me with the drinks missing, and ask loads of differnt people. Perhaps calling the reciept number and checking the reciept against the items may help organisation.
Im not put off trying other things on the menu as there is potential, and i know they only recently opened.
The menu is exactly like chaii walas but with additonal items, if u are going be a worthy competitor u guys really have to set yourselves apart and the food and service has to be spot on! If u can fix the organisation, and the flavours of key items on the menu, inshaAllah u will do very well.
Edit
Went again this week, thought i would try the breakfast with the omelette - sorry guys it just wasnt good enough. The server tried to charge ÂŁ5.00 when i pointed out the menu said it was ÂŁ4.50, I also asked for roti instead of paratha but got given paratha anyway, which is fine normally but the omelette and daal were covered in a layer of grease so a greasy paratha didnt go down well either. The omelette didnt come with any toppings, was tiny and oily, and yet again the daal was a tiny portion with a layer of oil on top. Karak chai was beautiful like the last time. Servers look like they dont want to be there. Service however was quick this time, but to be fair i was there early, around 1pm. I was amused to find they had run out of nutella bites this early too, shocking considering its one of their popular lines. Come on Karak Chai!i really want you to do well, you need to sort...

Read moreSuch an amazing place to visit, with great food and excellent customer service. Everything from the lighting, decor and ambience to the quality of food, customer service and overall satisfaction of visiting the venue - one great experience. I often go with my family including two young children and they enjoy it as much as I do ! I also often hold client meetings at the venue and sometimes come alone.... whatever the occasion, itâs fit for purpose. I must say a huge THANK YOU to all the Karak Chai staff, especially the owner Sughir and the Manager Kashif. Last month I held my wifeâs surprise Baby Shower at Karak Chai. The staff were so supportive with the preparations for the day, everything was at it should have been. All the food was itâs usual standard - hot and tasty ! The staff were as they usually are - a welcoming smile and always asking if we needed anything else. To top things off, Sughir gave me more time than we agreed, even better was the price......!!!
Whether you want to come with family/friends to socialise, or if you want to to come alone and get on with some work, this place is ideal. Needles to say, itâs a fantastic place to hold birthdays/parties/special occasions - I would recommend hiring out the entire venue, you wonât be disappointed.
Thank you to all at Karak Chai, keep up the good work..... il see you soon..!!
P.s. the tea (Karak chai) is the best Iv ever tasted, donât take my word for...
