Me and my wife had breakfast here on Sunday, 2nd November 2025, around 10:30am. There was plenty of parking, and as soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by a very polite and friendly receptionist who asked if it was a table for two. We were seated by who is believe to be the head waiter, and then another waiter came over and politely asked if we’d like to move further down, which we did. Everything was great up to that point. Then came the part that honestly spoiled the experience a bit. The man who I believe to be the head waiter, tall and wearing a black shirt and trousers, different from the other staff who were all in white shirts and black aprons, was extremely rude and unpleasant to deal with. His attitude from the start was just off. When he came to take our order, I was ready but my wife was still deciding. I ordered the desi breakfast, and my wife changed her mind from the vegetable breakfast to the nihari. He asked me if I wanted masala beans or aloo keema, and I said chana because I didn’t know chana already comes with the desi breakfast. Instead of just explaining it politely, he got visibly annoyed, rolling his eyes and snapping, saying it’s either aloo keema or masala beans. There was no need for that. Good manners cost nothing, and he just made us both feel really uncomfortable. My wife then asked what comes with the nihari because she wasn’t sure if naan was included. Again, instead of helping properly, he just said in a rude tone that you have to order naan or bread separately. She asked for one naan, and he rolled his eyes again and said nothing else. He didn’t even bother mentioning that the portion is large or suggesting we might want more than one. His attitude throughout was rude, impatient, and dismissive. Honestly, it felt like he didn’t want to be there. We were so close to just leaving but decided to stay, and I’m glad we did because the food was absolutely delicious. The desi breakfast was full of flavour, the chai was perfect, and my wife loved her nihari. The other waiters and waitresses were all genuinely lovely, polite, and attentive, a complete contrast to that one rude waiter. I don’t want to give less than 5 stars because the food really was brilliant and everyone else was great, but that particular waiter’s attitude definitely ruined what could have been a perfect experience. I really hope management takes this seriously because Mughal e Azam in Sparkhill is a great place with excellent food and most of the staff clearly take pride in what they do. It’s just a shame that one rude waiter let the side down.

Firstly I must mention that my family and I had come out for a birthday meal, and are trying new Mughal e azams Fusian main course. We ordered the samosa chaat as a starter which was delicious, though the portion was very small considering the price. We ordered 2 loaded parmesans(£22) and 1 chicken parmesan (£20). The food took roughly 45+ mins to come out to us and we had to ask the waiters twice how long the food will take. Once the food came out all the chips were cold and soggy, almost as if they had been cooked for a while. The chicken parmesan was completely raw and we could see it was completely pink from the inside. One of the loaded parmesans was also pink and blood can be seen. (I have attatched images below). We complained to a waiter and the manager was called out. He explained it was our ‘bad luck’ that the chicken was pink. How disappointing?!? We have come out to a fine dining restaurant and the managers feel it is okay to say the unedible food cooked by their chefs is our ‘bad luck’. The manager did offer to exclude the Chicken parmesan from the bill. The service was absolutely disappointing. One of the female waitresses mannerisms were rude when taking our payment. I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews, but I was very disappointed. The food is very pricey considering most of it was thrown away. I would also suggest the restaurant invest in longer straws as they sink to the bottom of the drink bottles. Despite this, it would be unfair of me not to say that the restaurant itself has a beautiful setting, with a big parking space. Definitely do not recommend!

The service was outstanding from Usama; polite chap who treated the family & little one very well, deserves a bonus/raise; a business is as good as how it treats its staff. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the decor is well ahead of its competitors in the same area.

Overall, the food was a mixed bag when you consider how expensive it was.

To start of with the positive, while the Parmesan was very pricey; it’s arguably the best in Birmingham, my family enjoyed it very much, I tasted a few bites and the fillet was juicy, just enough batter to keep it crispy but plenty of chicken content, the chips were fresh and crispy, cheese had been melted very nicely to!

I got a Mocha and if I am honest, it was serviceable, and could be improved further; however, it was reasonably priced. The soft drinks are unnecessarily over-priced though, my thing is this, if you are charging significantly more than what it costs elsewhere; is there anything interesting you could do with it, what more are you offering ? And I think it’s a bit cheeky not having the jug of water option available when we got no choice but to pay a good few quid for a water bottle; I’d be more receptive to this if it was a tad cheaper.

The desi breakfast was ok, the paratha was made very well and it was fresh which is much appreciated when there are places who offer a frozen paratha, the keema and daal were cooked well to (the curries at Mugal-e-Azam in general are excellent it must be said), however the omelette was overcooked and a lowlight from the breakfast; I think you can get more creative with the toppings, but the key is to keep it fresh and cooked just enough to avoid it being too brick like.

On to the kids meal which was a mini-pizza for about £9.50, come on guys? This was the Frozen Aldi version of the small Chicago Pizza, you can surely do better than this. It’s not just that it’s pricey, but the quality was just very poor; my little one didn’t enjoy it either.

I can see where you want to go with this business (Farmhouse), but just ask yourselves, would you pay x for what is being offered? If you want to maintain a premium dining experience, the food needs to match that; and there are various menu items which do, it is worth pointing that out, it just needs to be replicated across the entire menu. There is immense potential.

Overall I would recommend and would like to support this business with constructive criticism because I see the potential; I am hopeful you can stand out from the rest and be a restaurant which attracts not just the locals, but those from outside the the city;...

We called to hire the banqueting hall, the lady on the phone took all the details including number of people expected and even gave us a quote of how much it would be etc.

A couple days later we decided to go view and have dinner there. We did call to ask if the viewing was possible. Upon arriving we were told the manager was too busy and we could view it after we had our dinner. We accept this.

we got our food , we ordered couple of dishes, one of which was a lamb dish. which I explained to a member of staff that it absolutely stank, which meant it was not cooked properly! This person then asked someone else to come speak to us. I assume some sort of manager, he took the dish saying he will sort it out . Couple minutes later we were served the same dish that stank. My guess is they did nothing but garnish the top to make it look as if they did something. The manager did not come back to check if we were happy with the dish .. they simply didn't care. We did not eat the dish but paid for it anyways.

Not only the food was bad but the service was awful, by this time it had more staff than customers , we had to keep calling someone to serve us, the resturant at this point had about 12 people!

After finishing dinner we were ready to view the hall, by this point we already had our doubts about this place but thought we are here so we might aswell see it. The reception lady came to show us, acting as if she was too busy to even show us around, she literally opened the door to the hall for 30 seconds. Asked us how many people we expected even though we gave this information on the phone. She then became very defensive and abruptly told us we could not hire this place as we did not have their minimum number off people they require. This is fine however, what is not fine is , why were we not told this on the phone when we enquired about it? And how we managed to get quote.

We traveled for 2 hours to get to this place and all we got was diabolical service. Avoid this place at all cost they do not respect you or your time! Just too happy to take your money for half...
