The service from your cook is diabolical. After going up to the counter the cook was stood there, I had asked if I could have a slice of each meat please, no answer. He then proceeded to move the turkey, whilst muttering something under his breath. I apologised and said "I can't hear you well", again mumbled something... another chef walking by said, "he's going to get another turkey" straight away i could sence no customer service from the cook. No issues, I waited. He asked if I wanted normal plate or big. Ask for standard. Asked for a slice of each meat. He looked up and mumbled something rudely about "you dont get a slice of each meat, you just get a bit" makes no difference in what I had asked for as it didn't really need a reply... I then asked if I could have some of the skin/fat. With attitude he said 'you're not having any more than that unless it's a bigger plate". Now I appreciate there's certain amount they can only give out, surely a little bit of meat/skin/fat does not make any slight indent to the business, but an arrogant, mumberling chef does. Regarding this i had asked our table server (who in fact was lovely and a great job) if I could speak to the manager. The manager gave good chat, and offered us more meat, i declined as the service i had from the chef automatically put us off. He then mentioned he would sort the bill out for us after. The bill came over.. and a whopping 20% off of the bill, which probably totalled £8 plus. I mean i appreciate it but was expecting something more. Never mind..

Now I was going to leave an additional couple of more stars... but when I left I noticed the manager that had spoken to us was sat on a table in a group drinking... probably finished his shift, fair enough. You deserve a drink. But I think personally, knowing that a few customers wasn't happy with their service, I would've waited until we left, until you have your social gathering, wasn't a great look at all.

Edited... Looking upon the reviews.. the most negative ones are of the chef(s) I mean it obviously shows how rude and arrogant he really is.

I would not recommend going here. Unless they had a new counter chef in. The one in question, Tall...

So my 1st visit to this Toby Carvery.

1. Asked the male waiter for a glass of water with no ice, but lemon. He came out with glass of water with ice. I told him i wanted no ice but just water with lemon, he said he will bring it, never turned up...

2. The selection of vegetables is somewhat limited when compared to the Sutton Park branch. There's no parsnips, cabbage, broccoli, green beans, sweetcorn or even Mac n cheese (even though it states on menu they serve mac n cheese). The cauliflower was dry with very little cheese melted on some florets...

3. The potatoes did NOT taste as though they were freshly cooked.

4. Ordered the fudge cake with hot custard, would have preferred the custard to be in a jug as opposed to already being poured over the cake in the plate. But this isn't that much of a big deal.

5. There was a fly hovering around the gravy section... the gravy jugs and sauces were uncovered...

6. The Yorkshire Puddings are hard in texture and not as fluffy and soft compared to the Sutton Park branch.

Final note, i did pre book and ask for a table in the corner or a booth, we ended up being seated by the ladies toilets. If i had known this prior, i would have asked to be moved elsewhere. Not everyone wants to be seated or feels comfortable sitting next to toilets...

Overall i think i will definitely stick to going to the Sutton Park branch and won't be coming here...

Recently reopened after a renovation. Decoration nice food not too bad although the beef was awful and I had to spit it into a napkin as it was just a large slice of gristle. However the service was SHOCKING. We were sat at table 19 we ordered our drinks at the bar and the girl behind the bar bought them to the table. Our waitress walked passed our table about 4 or 5 times with no acknowledgement. Eventually we asked if we could just go up for our carvery. Yes she said I didnt realise anyone had sat you down well, neither of us were wearing our invisibility cloaks. We fetched our food ate our food with no table check and sat for about 10 minutes with dirty plates waiting to be asked if we wanted more drinks or desserts. NOTHING so eventually we caught her eye and asked for dessert we waited and waited and she then came over and said the order hadnt gone through still no offer of another drink. When the pudding came out we asked for the bill. Put the money on the dish and waited for it to be collected and waited and waited. We asked another waitress to take it who said it had to be our waitress so she went and fetched her. She took the cash but then she needed change so we waited and waited. She seemed to spend the whole time looking at her tablet instead of watching her tables. We were not the only table to complain about issues although they seemed to be aimed more...
