The Plough Inn — Restaurant in Blaby

FOOD POISONING I got seriously sick with campylobacter caused from raw chicken. I ate here for the first time and ordered panang chicken curry and the day after I starting having symptoms of food poisoning. It then continuously got worse and I got taken to the hospital by an ambulance. I was passing blood. The doctors took many tests including a CT scan. They picked up infectious colitis, my colon was badly inflamed, caused by raw poultry. I knew the last meal I ate that was meat was from this restaurant. I was dehydrated and disoriented. I was put on a IV drip and was in hospital for 5 days on antibiotics. Luckily I’m generally fit and well and fought through it but the doctor said if it had been someone vulnerable or elderly it’s fatal! They contacted environmental health and I rang the restaurant the owner was very unapologetic and had no remorse in even to ask if I was ok! It affected me physically and mentally, I am self employed and I lost income not being fit to work. I appalled with his response to this and I would avoid eating here if I was you! The doctors booked me in 6 weeks later to have a colonoscopy to check for any long term damage. I take this very seriously so please take my advice and be careful. The BEST thai food I’ve eaten to date, super lovely staff both in the pub and restaurant, excellent beer selection and incredible thai food. Cannot recommend highly enough x Sadly we left feeling very upset and angry as we went back through to the bar to have a drink before we left, the “bar man” attempted to give my fella a pint from under the counter and just top up the lack of head, when this was mentioned, literally just said “mate where did that come from?” As it clearly wasn’t freshly poured as we were at the bar!?! He started popping off saying there wasn’t anything wrong with it and offered to pour a fresh pint. At this point the bar girls all agreed they would not have done this infront of a customer and the boy became extremely upset and aggressive, we decided the best option was to get a refund and leave as we have had a great evening until his unreasonable attitude made us want to leave asap. Such a shame as the girls and restaurant was so brilliant it will not be going back as this little man obviously feels ripping off then being aggressive and unapologetic is appropriate customer service, what an...

This review is not a reflection on the Plough pub that we do not have a problem with but the Thai restaurant within it. Booked a table for 9pm and just felt that we were being rushed to eat and leave from the minute we sat down. While the food is nice the customer service is terrible, We were not given a wine list so did not know the cost of the bottle we ordered until paying for it. The staff were not communitive and as soon as we had finished our starter the main was immediately placed on our table. Then as soon as we finished eating our main dishes two members of staff appeared standing over us waving two bills and card machines for us to pay. We still had half a bottle of wine and had not asked for the bill. We paid the separate bills, one for the food the other for the drink and were then left to finish our wine with out so much of a thank you or any interaction from the staff. We finished our wine and would have had another drink in the bar but after the experience we left, again with no acknowledgement from the staff.
