Went for my friends birthday, it's a gorgeous place and as someone who loves steak, that is obviously what I ordered. The chips were nice (I don't like chips so that's a big compliment) however my steak wasn't very well seasoned, it was supposed to be with garlic butter but the taste was barely there I had to scrape it all into one area to get one or two tastey mouthfuls. The birthday friend had some chicken strips that came with sauce and they looked so good both me and my girlfriend were jealous that we didn't order that. However, upon our friend letting us try them we were thankful, they looked just like real chicken strips, but once you but into them they felt like cheap processed chicken rather than fillets that had been fried, the coating that looked well seasoned and tastey tasted like nothing. My other friends being vegetarian and pescatarian were more limited on what they could have but seemed to enjoy their food. Lastly I couldn't seem to find an accessible toilet, as someone who needs one I had to just hold it in making my meal uncomfortable, I felt too embarrassed to ask the staff if they had one which is on me so I won't hold that against the place. The staff themselves were really lovely and patient with us while everyone picked their meals. Overall, great looking place and a great atmosphere but I wouldn't ever eat here again...
Read moreMenu was pricey for what you got. We ordered a couple of different meals and we're left unimpressed, both by portion and quality. Chicken gyros turned out to be dried, chewy, thin shavings of chicken, dumped on a flat bread that was dry and hard round the edges and even the knife was struggling to cut it. The chopped up "mexican" chicken dumped on top of a pile of fries in a heap that looked nothing like the menu leads you to believe it will be served. We didn't bother with dessert. The glassware was filthy, including lipstick from the previous user, we had to ask for clean glasses, the jug the water came in was not clean, it doesn't take five minutes to check and buff, the cutlery was not clean we had to buff that too. We hadn't been at our table for under a minute and were in the process of greeting friends and were suddenly being rushed to give a drinks order having not even read the menu. Overall for a overpriced pub meal we will not return and wouldn't recommend to friends or family. After we had eaten because it was quieter we were left to catch up with our friends without being disturbed. For a Friday night, it wasn't exactly standing room only, and we think we now know why - most were using the pub garden outside for drinks only. Such a shame. Fully renovated / new pub but didn't meet the standard...
Read moreBit of a mixed bag really and I'm not a fan of leaving poor reviews , however, not overly impressed with the food here. The pub was extremely busy on the evening of our visit ( party of 19 ) , car park was full and had to park on the road at the front of the pub. The warm weather probably got people out for dinner and drinks so not really the pubs fault. The staff were lovely and doing their best considering the pub was pretty much FULL ! This is partly why I'm a bit reluctant in leaving a not so good review. We had to let the pub know at least 3 days in advance of our menu choices so was a bit ataken back when I was told that there was no beef brisket for my burrito bowl and would a mixed bean chilli ( vegetarian option ) be ok instead. The food took a while to come but that's fair enough when the entire pub probably wanted feeding. However, to not have the meal I'd booked and still pay full price was a bit of a let down. The food was nothing special, small bowl of salad, no dressings, rice was ok on the tortilla wrap, guacamole and sour cream and the mixed bean chilli with a sprinkling of tortilla chips and that was it, sixteen quid !! I don't see me returning any time...
