Cannot believe the tiny portions at inflated prices.. £28 for the fillet steak that came with a few roast tomatoes and a red wine jous.. potatoes had to be bought at extra cost.. as did the bread to accompany our starters.. ham hock terrine that actually had small piece of pineapple bigger than the rest of the dish! and the pigeon was barely visible. My sea bass was definitely the only thing of reasonable size but the confit potatoes were 6 tiny little spheres along with 3 courgette spheres. My partner’s dessert consisted of 3 mouthfuls,!they serve the smallest strawberry daiquiris I’ve ever seen! The latte’s weren’t much bigger than an espresso. What little we did receive was absolutely delicious but definitely not filling or value for money in any way. The only reason we stayed and didn’t complain was because we’d been given an £100 gift voucher that we had to use as a Christmas present.. to say we’re disappointed is putting it extremely mildly.. will definitely NOT return or recommend eating here to anyone!!!

Newly opened so we thought we'd give it a try. We were given the Sunday menu so I'm not sure what's on the usual weekly menu, but there was a choice of 4 starters (3 vegetarian) and 8 main courses (with only 2 vegetarian choices), there was also a children's section, but only 1 vegetarian option. We had fish and chips £15 which was good but not great. The fish was lovely, large and well cooked but I'm afraid the chips let it down. They were pale and tasteless, I'm not sure which potatoes they use, but I'm sure they weren't Maris Piper. It would have helped if they'd been cooked for longer, it would have made them browner and crispier. Another problem was the separation between the bar and restaurant in payment, they had to be paid for separately, for some reason, and we were asked to buy our drinks at the bar when we first sat down, which meant one of us queuing up to buy drinks leaving the other sat by themselves. Not a great first impression!

Absolutely brilliant place in a quiet village, that's managed to blend the idea of a gastropub into an even higher class establishment. It's fine dining without the pretentiousness. Fantastic, newly renovated, clean, fresh, modern, stylish building. Private car park across the road, which poses no issues for cars of any kind. A foodies must visit. Amazingly low priced for properly Michelin quality meals, with a wine menu to match. Seating in the the bar, formal restaurant, outdoor and general areas. All are excellent with outstanding table service. Highly recommended. very hard to call it a pub or gastropub, it's far, far better than that.

To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Our bill was £170.00!!!!!, and we wouldn't even expect that from Michelin star. We arrived and were persuaded to try the most expensive cocktails on the menu. They came to £18.50, but my bank account shows we were charged £20.00. I know it's only a £1.50 difference, but still??? We sat in the bar and after 30 minutes, had to be asked if we could be shown to our table. We had been ignored up until us asking. We were led through to the most un-atmospheric restaurant we have ever experienced. It was uncomfortable, two other tables were occupied, and the music was that loud, the waiter couldn't hear us taking our orders. We asked for the music to be turned down slightly, which took 20 minutes to do. It was like being in a nightclub. The young waiter had by now smashed 3 trays of glasses, and our whole evening was spent watching glass being cleared up. My goat's cheese and beetroot risotto was like a bowl of sick!!! Our waiter asked if all was ok, and when I said it wasn't very nice, he replied yes, we have had a few complaints, its being taken off the menu!!! It was £16!! We ordered a bottle of sauvignon blanc and asked for a second bottle, to be told you had run out? We were offered an alternative at £10.00 more expensive?? As we left not a single member of staff acknowledged us or said thank you or good evening. Have emailed 3 times and not had a...

To be honest this was my second visit, I'd been desperate to go back since our visit the week after it opened. The first visit was a family affair the food was fabulous everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their dining experience. We all had different dishes no one was disappointed. I digress, the second visit was with my youngest son, we decided just to go for mains and desserts, I spotted a dish that wasn't on the first time we went all I can say is wow. Fillet of beef with pomme Anna potatoes, crispy shallots and jus, well you get the picture it was amazing the fillet was so tender, perfectly seasonsed. The child went for the tomahawk steak , yes it's a sharing steak but he's greedy and at 6'3" polished it all off. We did dispensed with a marvellous bottle of red, before you tut the child is cultured and over 18 and we both enjoy a glass of wine. Desserts were just as tasty with the child picking the brownie and I had the sticky toffee pudding, yum yum. The staff were great don't think it's stuffy, it's not, the staff are professional and attentive, without being annoying. We dined early so sat at one of the chef's tables, thanks to all those behind the scene, Dan and his team do a splendid job. Can't wait to visit again in a few weeks to try out the new autumn/ winter ...

I recently took my partner for dinner here after hearing it has come under new management post pandemic.

The food was delicious and is definitely not your typical pub grub. These were restaurant quality dishes that looked as good as they tasted! The menu is concise but not stingy and there will be something for everyone, especially if you enjoy seafood as there was a wide selection of dishes which included fish.

I tried the scotch egg followed by a sirloin steak finished off with sticky toffee pudding and I would highly recommend them all! The scotch egg was delicious even if the yolk wasn't runny, the steak was cooked perfectly and paired beautifully with the house butter. Then the pudding was a great end to the meal.

For three courses I would set aside between £75 - £90 depending on how many drinks and sides you order. The need to order side dishes is the only real reason I deducted a star. For the price it would be nice for a steak to come with chips, so it was slightly disappointing that my partner and I felt the need to order side dishes, no matter how tasty they were.

The pub has ample parking and is very clean and tidy. You can also book online as long as you don't want a table the same day. Otherwise you will need...
