If could put no stars I would. The way me and my family was treated last night Iām disgusted!! We out for what should have been a nice family meal at retreat in Bromley cross for my sisters birthday. I have two children one of them is 2 years old and the other is 2 months old. Baring in mind itās hard enough to entertain a 2 year old in a restaurant that is FAMILY CHILD FRIENDLY ! ( as they say ) my little girl wasnāt being naughty she was just doing what a normal 2 year old would do! Laugh scream and wanting to get out of her chair. We are only half way through our meal and the manager rudely asked us to leave. Half way through our food. Weāve not even finished our drinks or our food⦠strange ? You would use a different approach not be as rude and maybe move us somewhere else. Why just so bluntly tell us to leave ? We had no ā pre warn ā before that it was just straight to the point, we was booted out the restaurant. We didnāt deserve any of it. The reason he wanted us to leave is because apparently my daughter was being to loud and he had customers⦠who apparently complained about a 2 year old little girl. but aināt we customers to? While I was sorting us out to leave getting our stuff together my daughter screamed as I picked her up as she didnāt want to leave she would of been made to felt as sheās done something wrong. When she hadnāt. the manager rudely said ā oh my god ā as if my daughter was an embarrassment!! As if she was some dirt at the bottom of his shoe trying to make us feel small for being out in public. The rude undertone he was towards a 2 year old. Iām livid and so is my partner. we will never have anyone speak to our children like that ! It shouldnāt have never even happened. Iāve never been made to leave a restaurant in my life!! Bang out of order for making us leave in the first place he could of come up with a better solution to make everyone feel comfortable not just other customers who where there to but US who are customers also I have 2 month old baby who was all so there!!! Who even kicks a young baby out and a 2 year old. As you can imagine the unnecessary stressed he caused trying to embarrass myself and my family infront of other people who was there. Iāll be never going there again! And too think we thought it was a nice place to go as myself partner and my daughter have been there couple times before we never got treated the way we did and as a manager !! who even deals with things the way he did ! Itās unbelievable itās so unprofessional! Been made into a thing that wasnāt even a thing caused a problem for nothing. He needs learn some better communication skills , people skills and handle his self & tone better. If you donāt want children in your restaurant and children acting like what children would act like then donāt class your self as a family child restaurant cos you are clearly not! We felt like the manager was being a certain way to us then he was to his other customers just because we have children like itās embarrassing to go out in public with your kids, looking down at us just being a complete snob! Weāve honestly never been treated like that never. I never got chance to get his name as everything was happening so fast. We reacted in away to defend our children towards his behaviour to a 2 year old girl itās just beyond so wrong as a grown adult to even speak to a child like that! Somebody elseās child. Iām still in disbelief and this is the worst experience Iāve ever had in my life. I will be avoiding this restaurant !!! Not having my children in an environment like...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBooked for a family meal for late Sunday afternoon and were delighted that the place was decked out for Christmas - including the option of their Christmas menu, with 3 course or 2 course options - all 4 adults opted for the latter - the 3 year old went for chicken nuggets, fries and peas off the children's menu. When he saw our starters arrive to all but him, he happily joined me with the french bread I had to accompany my melted Camembert. The service staff were helpful throughout and the Santa party hats were greatly appreciated - especially the mini version that adorned the straws on my grandson's special drink.
I actually take time to describe this as, for me, it shows the quality of this establishment. Having pulled grandson away from his current favourite cartoon, I asked the drinks waiter if he had any dragon's blood drink. Without a blink he said that he had and returned with a beautifully presented blackcurrant drink, with 2 straws crowned by a mini felt Santa hat.
All 4 adults went for different menu options for our mains: my wife had the halloumi skewers - an order that required a box to take the remainder home in; the beef, fish and my early Christmas dinner all went down a treat.
The layout of the seating was really well thought out and we loved the attention paid to a child's birthday celebration meal on the same balcony we were on.
This is an establishment where it is not just the food the owners should be proud of but the way every single member of staff was dedicated to your enjoyment of the occasion. The atmosphere was great. Certainly a place we will return to, and one I can't recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a Genuine Review with the aim to fire a warning shot to the owners about the staggering decline in standards of a former regular venue for us. Saturday 3/6/23 - 1830 The Food was good. We asked for a Table outside last minute; which we were very grateful for; given the sweltering temperature inside. Regrettably, the table was behind 4 "ladies" who used expletives as punctuation. The atmosphere was crass, foul and unbecoming the setting and it's target audience. Their poor behaviour was clearly upsetting other diners and was being enabled by the very inexperienced staff who, with no life experience and relative naivety towards customer service were completely out of their depth to be able to deal with the uncomfortable situation. The duty manager was trying hard but on a Saturday (a core day for the industry) you need a more capable employee. Our drinks order was incorrect three times and yet when we politely and courteously made our waitress aware, she ignored the issue and hoped we and the issue, would go away. The bill, when presented did not represent our meal or drinks. We left very disappointed almost angry at the way we were treated and the foul atmosphere of the drunken "ladies" behind us. The duty manager just wanted us to leave rather than address the issues we experienced. Regrettably, an Awful Experience at Bromley Cross Retreat which we will not be repeating...
