BREAKFAST REVIEW Sun 9th October The Pavilion Cafe, Alkincotes Park, Colne. I've been meaning to visit this place for a while now so as the weather is still reasonable I took my motorbike for a spin out to Colne. I'd checked my map before heading off as although it's close to the centre of Colne it is tucked away in a park surrounded by residential streets. I found it easily enough and parked almost at the entrance to the park, insight of The Pavillion itself. My first impression on approaching the cafe was the explosion of colours from the window boxes adorning the Pavilion, I suppose that depends on the time of year though. I guess I got lucky. There were some tables outside the cafe but I prefer to sit in so I can see whats going on. It's a dog friendly cafe, which makes sense with it being in a park and there were a couple of little pooches being fussed over by customers. Personally I have no issue with well behaved dogs being in any establishment but if you are adverse to K9-company this one might not be for you. I found a seat and ordered at the counter. I went for the Large Breakfast. There was a Gut Buster version but the large would definitley suffice. I swapped the egg out for a slice of Black Pudding (which wouldn't have been included on the Large Breakfast) and ordered a pot of tea. I took my seat and waited. The place has a really friendly vibe, there were lots of cheery "Hellos", " Good Mornings" and "How are yous" It was obvious there was a regular clientele. There were 4 or 5 staff working together and you could see into the kitchen where breakfasts were being prepared, cakes were being decorated and everyone seemed genuinely busy and happy. My pot of tea arrived with teacup and saucer and a small jug of milk. I was actually offered a choice of cup or mug - that's a first! When my breakfast came I did the usual and checked the plate was hot - not to moan if it wasn't heated but if not I'd have to start straight in on the beans before they went cold as I hate cold beans. Anyway it was hot. It burnt my finger. Happy days! The first thing that struck me was the slice of black pudding. It must have been over an inch thick (that's about 2.54cm for the kids 😅). A very impressive slab of ebony goodness. The sausages were butchers pork sausages supplied by Schofields Butchers in Nelson and the bacon was a nice thickness and held its shape well through cooking, both were delicious and well prepared. There was grilled tomato, my preference rather than tinned and both halves were on my plate, which was a welcome change. The mushrooms were dark and rich with flavour and the beans were probably Heinz. The toast was sliced white, again, my preference with a breakfast and I was given a third extra slice as my waitress told the bread was a bit thin (or something similar 🤣👍). Sauces were in sachets. All in all it was a lovely breakfast served in a really friendly environment. It's a pity it took me so long to try it but I will be returning and I heartly reccomend visiting Pavilion Cafe at Alkincoats Park for a great breakfast. 💰💰

Came here early Sunday morning with my dog, for a cooked breakfast and coffee. Very friendly staff, lovely cooked breakfast and a great way to start a Sunday morning. Had a walk round the beautiful park afterwards. Sunny frosty autumnal day, was perfect.

Sun 9th October The Pavilion Cafe, Alkincotes Park, Colne.

UPDATE: they approached me and gave me my money back, but then told me to not bother coming in again. Further proof the staff are rude, to add to the fact they can't take criticism and ban customers for complaining!

Came for a bowls competition, so it was a little busy to their credit. However, I waited 20 minutes for bacon sandwiches, and over half an hour for a toastie because they'd given it to someone else (and tried to accuse my father in law of taking it even though he ordered 2 himself). The older female staff were incredibly rude. Firstly, we sat at the table with coffees (purchased from the bowls club), and instead of politely asking us to move, the woman passively aggressively barged in without saying excuse me across our table to put stickers on the table saying cafe tables only. In the process of this, she knocked over a friends coffee and didn't even offer to replace it. The second instance was when I asked about my toastie. The young man I asked was very polite, and the older staff could learn a lot from him! However a woman came out of the kitchen and gave me a mucky look as if I was lieing, and as I said accused my father in law of taking it, when he had ordered two anyway. Didn't get an apology until I got my toastie from the woman, but again the young man was perfect. Bacon sarnies were a little under done (although I liked that, but other people complained). Cheese and ham toastie was average to be honest. Overall not worth the wait. I imagine it might be better if it were quieter, but one thing they have to improve on is how they interact with staff. Manners cost nothing and a smile...

Visiting from Essex to see our Northern family, it was my First time Visiting this wonderful cafe located in Alkincoats Park, I would highly recommend for afternoon tea , fantastic atmosphere with a real homely feel, all the sandwiches and cakes are all homemade too perfection. Also excellent value for money. We all felt looked after with unforgettable outstanding customer service. Also just a little shout out to Louise for looking after us , we personally give the feed back to Louise but she was very modest and said “it’s a team effort” Thank you for a fantastic experience. Your team are all gems, So thank to a fantastic experience and in true Essex style it was...
