Rather disappointed, especially after reading the other good feedback

Firstly the atmosphere was rather non existent with only 2 other people in and was rather cold, needed to leave coat on.

Service was ok, but staff were absent from the restaurant and bar area for most the time, seemed like they only came out to bring food and seat new guests so we're not available.

I had the beef & ale pie , very disappointed, the contents was very much like a Heinze beef big soup !! Seriously the meat content was just little flakes , not chunks as would expect!!

The chips were very dry and crispy not fluffy potato !!

My mum in law had the fish n chips , same again with the dry chips, far too much batter compared to size of fish , and the peas were inedible from being dry , hard and flavourless.

We did raise the issues and was given a £2.99 reduction on the bill !! Not happy but not one for creating a scene - we just learn not to revisit or recommend.

Despite being very busy we were promptly seated by our friendly waitress. She returned once she saw we were ready to order and our drinks were with us shortly after that. For starters my wife had a seabass fishcake (which she loved) I had the garlic mushrooms (which were tasty). For main my wife had the fillet steak on a hot stone. The quality of the meat was outstanding and had been prepared exactly as asked for. I had the duck confit with puy lentils, asparagus and dauphinois potato. It was absolutely delicious. Was very disappointed when we visited. The 3 of us came for breakfast off a recommendation and we all got the full English. The food was cold and the eggs were still part raw. We raised the problem with the waitress who spoke to the chef and said it was because “he had a baby at home, he’s tired so that’s why the plates weren’t warmed and the food was cold”. Jess was so lovely and friendly it’s a shame the food let it down… it’s definitely not good value for money and I wouldn’t try it again.
