Please read as this is the absolute truth.||We have just returned from a stay to visit Thorpe Park and stayed at the Prince Regent, family room number 2.||The pub is run by an indian family who seem hard working but they run a bar, pub restaurant, let rooms and an indian take away. All seemed freindly but over worked and always busy. ||The rooms are attached to the pub and are accessed at the rear through a door with very poor locks, as a carpenter builder I could access the room area with a screw driver. The entrance door to the rooms has also direct access to the pub kitchen through a door which is permanently open. As indian food was prepared here the whole entrance area smelt very strong of curry, also if you opened a window the extractors from the kitchen filled the air with the same smell. The entrance hall carpets were sticky with grease and were very, very dirty. ||Room 2 had clean bedding and towels but the general condition of the room was poor. Furniture was broken, old food (peanuts) were under one of the single beds. On a ledge outside the windows there was a lot of rubbish including food (an old dip container, still with dip left (slightly green) - perhaps to go with the peanuts found earlier?!) and a filthy odd sock. Cracked tiles in the bathroom with black clumps of dirt in the corners of shower/basin area. The shower itself was however fairly clean and worked well. indeed whilst I stayed there I never took a pair of flip flops off within the room even if i got up for the bathroom at night.||The room (2) was directly above the front door of the pub and bar noise was inevitable. indeed both friday and saturday were extremely loud until 12.45am. Football is constantly on the tv's and the pub is full of drinking males not inviting for families. ||The staff do not meet or greet and you need to wait for pints to be served at the bar before getting your key to the room. That said staff were friendly and polite and indeed the owner sorted us a car parking spot at the rear for our car on the last night. It was only this morning however after parking in the dark that I discovered the car park had vomit in several areas on the floor which I had to stand in to access the car.||Sorry to say we wiped our...
Read moreAfter 2 very stressful days with no sleep I came across this lovely proper local justfor a coupleof pints. However what I did not expect were the amazing aromas from the kitchen.... spices galore, invading and making me hungry. I went with the bar staffs recommendation and ordered 4 amazonian dishes, photos attached. The crispiest full of flavour onion bhaji I have ever tasted. The amazing texture and flavoured garlic naan. The pakat lamb, spicey, tender and with a proper kick tha lasts way after the mouthful. And the biriani sauce and vegetables.... I can't begin to describe the crunch, the spice and the sweetness of it. All in all the best ever Indian food I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. My take... 5 star food at amazing pub food prices. And looking at other dishes being served up, you will never go wrong whatever you choose. Congratulations and thanks for a lovely evening, and...
Read moreI live & work in chertsey but found this pub by chance. From outside it looks like a rough pub but I've learnt over time not to judge a book by its cover!!! 😂 Being of Indian origin, I can certainly say this place serves excellent flavored & correctly spiced indian food. It is NOT one of those bangladeshi restaurant serving indian food to please british palate with dishes like balti, dhansak etc etc. The quality & the quantity get 5 stars. The owner Sonny is very friendly & comes arnd for a good chinwag even if it's busy. Don't miss their mixed grill!!!!!!!!!!! It's to die for!! The only reason I've given them 4stars is cos there's no delivery & it gets a bit noisy with 3 massive TVs & ppl having fun. If u want a quiet night, do a collection & savour their fantastic dishes at home!!! Om...
