Thyme Tavern Bar and Restaurant — Restaurant in Borough of Runnymede

I have to say after reading the reviews we were quite disappointed at finding Tyme Tavern very average today. Firstly, it doesn't appear there is any parking on site so people with disabilities will struggle. They were great, calling me to confirm the booking a few days ago and making sure they had the right table to meet our needs. Service was slow today. 3 of us asked for Latte's, they said yes then came back to explain their coffee machine wasn't working. The complimentary bread was delicious. We all ordered the roast. The two who ordered the chicken were not impressed. It was a breast wrapped in bacon. It tasted like it was boiled in water and then roasted with the bacon around it. It tasted quite fatty. No mention of bacon on the menu for the chicken roast. The lamb was good but nothing to rave about. The beef seemed to be the best. The vegetarian Wellington was nice but the pastry went quite mushy underneath. A few of us felt the potatoes were slightly under-done. Service was incredibly slow. We waited for about 20 minutes with the plates uncollected. Desert was good. Cheesecake and brownies were tasty. But again, after finishing it took a long time to get anyone's attention and pay the bill. So a mixed review really. Not sure we would go back. It was just average. Nothing to make a fuss about and complain, but nothing to rave...

Gave this place a 4, my room was beautifully decorated, with a lovely showroom adjoining, no fault to be found, a just lovely room. With a good internet connection.|Went out to dinner to a nearby Indian, very enjoyable.|Breakfast here was cooked to order and extremely nice, albeit with a fairly limited cold selection.|Would have been a 5 but there was no parking available which was fine, but it would have been nice if they had said this in there blurb, offering nearby places to park, I had to park, walk to ask about parking, find out there was none and then park nearby and the options the park should be made clear, spoilt the experience, I have no issues with no parking but a guide to prospective stayers about where they can park would be much...

Editing my previous rating. Owners have changed and they serve Thai food. For one, food is delicious. More importantly, service is excellent! I've taken my team for lunch last Thursday on the 8th of May, and there was a small delay with serving two sets. No big deal and delay wasn't huge. Waitress suggested drinks on the house which we declined, as we didn't see a problem. And when we were paying, she removed those two delayed sets from the bill.. I left a bit of a tip, but only when I was doing my expenses I realized, that drinks were removed too! Staff deserved much higher tip for how they treated us! Next time I am in town I'll take my team there again and make sure to properly recognize how welcome we felt the last...
