Just abysmal.
Staff friendly but…
Restaurant smelled awful (felt like we were inside a butcher store). Chairs were very dirty, rusty and just plain uncomfortable. Tables sticky. Drinks tasted watered down. 2 out of 5 dishes we ordered were wrong (got prawn crackers instead of prawn tempura - we thought the prawn crackers were complimentary and that they had forgotten our tempura until we saw the bill…) Sushi was the worst - even supermarkets do better and that’s really saying something! I wish we had captured photos. We were served what look like a kid’s playdoh creation where they rolled a snake of rice and very roughly dumped some toppings on top. We also had some very stale chewy prawn tempura in our sushi that felt like it was cooked the previous day and left out overnight. Wouldn’t be surprised if we get food poisoning.
Anyone who knows good Asian food will not enjoy this place. It is not Japanese cuisine, Korean, Thai or Chinese. I wouldn’t even call it Asian fusion. All the tastes were just off and you could tell the chefs didn’t know what real East Asian food taste like and are just amateurs in the kitchen. The presentation of some of the dishes were strange and not restaurant quality.
We have never had such a bad experience dining out. It’s very questionable whether the people running this establishment has any food and beverage/catering experience at all. We had to get the bill before we even finished our food. (Not that we had a chance to finish it anyway as the waitress decided to start taking all the dishes away and stacking them up - didn’t ask if we were finished at all)
Even with 50% off the bill, this was not worth it. Will not be returning. I cannot see a place like this improving as they thought it was acceptable to serve what...
Read more4* in support of a convenient local to keep the ratings up. However, this place reminds me of one of those world buffets where all the dishes are a bit hit and miss and the flavour profiles are all a bit haphazard. If you've been to a lot of authentic Asian city restaurants or even takeaways in your lifetime you'll notice that many of the sauces and spice mixes are all a bit wrong. Sure they work, but they are not matching those unique flavours that make some of these dishes so popular. My family and I couldn't say wow to anything apart from the special chow mein and dumplings which were excellent - maybe because they didn't come with one of those weird sauces. The Peking prawns were shrivelled and sad and again the sweet and sour sauce that usually comes with them was completely off. The Korean chicken didn't create the mouth explosion we were so anticipating. The chefs need to get out there and taste test compare. The service was pretty warm and friendly, but as we left we sadly had to say that we wouldn't want to return - even on a Groupon voucher. If you don't have a voucher you'll feel a bit ripped off. Avoid dishes with those weird sauces unless you're taste blind or blind drunk in which case you'll have absolutely nothing to...
Read moreI had a lovely birthday dinner here with many family members. The staff were friendly and very accommodating of us all. Considering the number of guests and requests, it was surprising that we only had 1 mistake with the dishes, which was promptly corrected and the incorrect dish given free of charge. The chef even provided us extra Korean fried chicken dishes for us to try, which were thoroughly enjoyed and shared around.
Of my own dishes, I had 2 disappoints with the nigiri and uramaki, which didn't seem to have the rice prepared to the quality I'm used to and wasn't particularly tasty, and the tteok-bokki, in which some of the rice cakes were hard or tough. I was also a little confused by the drastic colour difference between the salmon in the nigiri and uramaki, and the separate sashimi, with the latter tasting much better despite its grey colour. The highlights for me was the duck teriyaki that was delicious and tender, and the aforementioned Korea fried chicken that was crunchy and tasty.
As it was my birthday, the staff also kindly provided us some bottles of prosecco to drink after the cake was cut.
Would recommend, and I hope to visit again to try some other dishes on...
