I recently had the pleasure of dining at Humble Thali in Staines, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! As a vegetarian, I often seek out authentic Indian cuisine, and Humble Thali truly exceeded my expectations.
The star of the show was undoubtedly the vegetarian thali. It was a vibrant and generous spread that showcased a variety of dishes, each bursting with flavor. The Dal Makhani was rich and creamy, with a perfect balance of spices that made it incredibly comforting. The Palak Paneer was equally impressive; the spinach was fresh and vibrant, and the paneer was soft and perfectly cooked. Both dishes felt authentic and reminded me of home-cooked meals.
The thali also included an assortment of sides and accompaniments that complemented the main dishes beautifully, making for a satisfying and wholesome meal. The service was warm and attentive, adding to the overall inviting atmosphere of the restaurant.
If you’re in Staines and looking for a taste of authentic Indian vegetarian cuisine, I highly recommend Humble Thali. It’s a gem that truly lives up to its name, offering delicious food with a humble yet delightful dining experience. I can’t wait to return and try more...
Read moreI have been eating at Humble Thali almost from its inception (3-5 years) . Feltham and Staines both provide a fantastic service. I have always dined-in and then ordered a take away soon after. Staff is excellent. It is rare nowadays to see a smiling staff. Ambience is decent and as the name suggests, “humble”. What is not so humble is the taste. It is as authentic as it gets. All dishes tastes exactly like they taste back in India. The spice / heat levels need to be authentic. That is what makes them unique. Said that, the menu is well thought off and caters to all levels of hotness. The Thalis give you a well-balanced meal. The biryani (any) is as authentic “Bombay Style Biryani “ I have had in UK. Most Biryanis are Pulav Rice with pieces of meat in it. Biryanis need to be layered. And you will find that here. I have eaten out in many Indian restaurants and in all honesty this one feels like money well spent. It is what it says on the tin. Humble Thali doesn’t pretend to be what they are not. That is what I like about them. Highly...
Read moreI ordered two portions each of Dal Makhni, Butter Chicken, and Railway Mutton. Unfortunately, the quality was very disappointing this time. The Dal Makhni tasted more like Dal Tadka, the Butter Chicken hardly had any chicken, and the Railway Mutton was mostly potatoes with barely any meat and no salt.
I still have one portion of each left, but honestly, they’ll be going in the bin. I’ve been a loyal customer for over three years and have always enjoyed your food, but this experience was really disheartening. I’m not sure what’s changed whether it’s cost-cutting, new management, or a different chef, but whatever it is, it’s affecting the quality badly.
If you want continued support from your regulars, please don’t compromise on your food standards.
To add to that, the staff member serving last night seemed disengaged and defensive, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy, I was the only one there.
Overall, a very disappointing experience from a place I’ve always trusted. I really hope things...
