Our Unforgettable Wedding Celebration at The Magpie Pub - Vegan Options!
We recently hosted our wedding reception at The Magpie Pub, and it truly was the most magical day of our lives! From start to finish, the team went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, turning our vision into reality with exceptional communication, thoughtful touches, and genuine care.
We were able to rent out the entire pubāupstairs, downstairs, and the beautiful garden areaāall for a fantastic price. The flexibility was wonderful; we could have easily held our celebration in just the upstairs or downstairs areas, as both spaces were ideal on their own. However, having the entire venue created a unique, progressive experience for our guests, and Kat and Ludvik managed every logistical detail seamlessly, coordinating each phase of our celebration across different locations.
Kat and Ludvikās involvement was invaluable. Their creative ideas, enthusiasm, and attention to detail added a uniquely personal touch to our day. Katās drive and positivity were a beacon of light, guiding us with confidence and ease throughout the planning process.
The food was outstanding, and they catered incredibly well for vegans, offering high-quality, delicious vegan options that impressed all our guests. It was a rare treat to find such care taken with vegan dishes, and our guests with dietary needs felt wonderfully accommodated.
The friendly, attentive bar staff made everyone feel completely at home, and the idyllic riverside setting provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff at The Magpie Pub in Sunbury.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Magpie has been our ālocalā of choice for close on 30 years now despite the fact that there are many other pub options available in Sunbury, despite the villageās comparatively small size.
The location of the Magpie is superb being, as it is, directly situated on the river with a terrace overlooking the waterās edge. Obviously, the terrace really comes into its own during the warmer Summer months although there are covered areas (some with heaters) that make sitting outside an option even on cooler Spring or Autumn evenings.
One of the Magpieās greatest assets is its staff who are, without exception, friendly, welcoming and helpful. A ālocalā is somewhere where you like to be recognised and welcomed and the staff at the Magpie donāt disappoint in this respect.
As beer drinkers, the Magpie provides a good choice of real ales to sample and enjoy, Greene King staples being accompanied by a range of ever changing āguestā beers. The Magpie also accepts the CAMRA card if you're a member.
Weāre probably not best qualified to comment on the food since we tend to use the pub as somewhere to meet up with friends/mates for a drink. However, on the few occasions when we have been in for a bite to eat, the food has never failed to surpass expectations and if we were looking for somewhere local to have lunch, the Magpie would be at the top of the list.
In summary, a great pub in a wonderful location with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had a great british pub voucher to use, so we decided to try a new pub which we hadn't been to before.
The Magpie was the one which we chose to try, it was a lovely old looking building which has a varander which overlooks the River Thames which would have been lovely if it was chucking it down, to be able to sit and watch the boats sailining along the river.
The beer selection was good, a number of cask and draft beers, a couple of ciders and, wine, spirits and tea and coffee.
The food was large portions which was well received, the service was a little slow to start with whilst we were waiting to speak to the bar staff as they seemed to serve a few others who were behind us, but once that was sorted the rest of the meal went without a hitch and the server was very attentative.
The pub is split into different areas, which means it could get noisey in pockets, but nothing which detered us. There isn't any parking, but there is a public car park just across the road, which is a ring go car park, the 1st hour is free and then something resonable for the next few hours.
They were dog friendly and had changing facilities for babies. Just be aware there are a number of steps though, so be prepared to carry buggies etc.
We will come back again in the future, I'm glad we have found...
