The Phoenix Sunbury-on-Thames — Restaurant in Borough of Spelthorne

It is hard to believe that I have lived in Hanworth Village all of my life' and just a mile away, by accident we went to the Pheonix in Lower Sunbury. From the outside you would never think that such a beautiful venue existed. The Staff are superb' the ambience is perfect' the garden backs onto the River Thames' We have enjoyed every single visit to The Pheonix' and above all' the food is really exceptional. The prices are really good for what we have purchased unlike many Pubs that are still around. I could go on and on about the wonderful service and welcoming faces that always greet us when we visit. I know that I have given a 5 star rating' but if a 10 Star Rating was available' this amazing Pub would get that from both my wife and myself. You guys have shown that kindness' great service' attention to detail and the Great British Pub is alive and well. On that note also' it is difficult to get an outside table as you are always so busy. That is a great compliment and testament from those who enjoy all that you have to offer. Our company had a BBQ at The Phoenix in 2017 which was a roaring success, so for our work Summer event this year, we booked a BBQ for 60 employees, plus guests. However, there was no BBQ upon arrival - everything was cooked in the oven and brought out to us.

It was clear that they could not keep up with the amount of food that was needed - food was presented to us at erratic times. There were huge gaps in between food being laid out, and many people were complaining about being hungry. We were given burgers cut into quarters and half hot dogs, instead of complete burgers and full-sized hot dogs, when this was never mentioned before payment. The sides were not ample enough, and people who arrived later never got to try any of them.

The quality and quantity of food we received was poor. We understood that The Phoenix had very recently changed hands, and everyone was obviously finding their feet, but if they were not equipped to hold the event, this should have been explained to us so we could have gone elsewhere.

Went here on the 5th July. The service was terrible and the staff were extremely badly trained. I could have done a better job by myself. Restaurant wasn't busy. Took us 20 mins to get cokes. Waitress forgot our order and came back because she "didn't have a pad" one of the other waiters spent a good 15 minutes chatting to someone rather than serving. Table next to us hadn't ordered at all and had been there 30mins. Ordered another round of cokes, didn't come. Really ?!! A simple order of cokes??? There was only 2 of us!! They were also giving food to the wrong tables...

I manage a restaurant and this place is a shambles. I get its relatively new but surely that means effort should be made. The service was the worst I've ever experienced and I've been to a lot of restaurants (will never come here again)

It's a shame, considering it's the sister to the Norbiton and Dragon.
