I visited Mumtaz today with my partner who loves good food!

It was really busy which we thought was a great sign, was seated quickly and given a menu.

We decided on lamb chops and chicken wings for starters, then keema pasta bake and Peri Peri chicken with chips for our mains.

We ordered 2 bottles of coke, £3 each for the cheapest coke there is, that wasn't even cold. We asked the waiter for ice, the coke was that warm, my partner used half of the tray because it just melted.

Food arrived after 15 ish minutes.

Chicken wings was average, definitely over priced. The lamb chops was dry and lacking flavour.

I am extremely picky with food, so I was delighted when I read the keema bake didn't have onions etc in, I asked for no tomatoes.

When I bit in to my keema bake, imagine the disappointment when I bit into an onion and peas. I HATE BOTH. The pasta bake was lovely though, red hot with lots of flavour. I ate round the onions and peas and my partner ate the rest.

My partners Peri Peri chicken was extremely dry, with an over powering taste of charcoal which was served with the worlds smallest dollop of mash, salad and chips. He requested a naan to eat his dry chicken with, it took that long to arrive that his dry chicken also went cold.

In between the time it took for his naan to come, we had 2 separate waiters come and almost take the food from our table assuming we had finished.

I asked one of the waiters if they could double check the menu regarding the onions and peas in the food, he said he would but never returned.

Once we had finished eating, it felt like they rushed us out as we turned down the desert menu.

Upon leaving, I bought some asian sweets from the counter to take home. Presentation was beautiful and the sweets was really nice, very reasonable priced too.

The one decent thing I will say is that the interior is absolutely beautiful and a few of the waiters was friendly.

Overall, I do not think this place is good value for money. Over priced and over rated food. Very...

⭐ An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Mumtaz! ⭐

From the moment we entered, Mumtaz welcomed us with exceptional warmth and care. The hospitality was flawless – the staff were attentive, and the owner personally ensured everything was perfect. Their dedication and genuine kindness made our visit truly memorable 👏.

The decor was stunning – a beautiful mix of traditional elegance and modern sophistication. The ambiance was luxurious yet inviting, with soft lighting and exquisite detailing ✨.

Now, let’s talk about the food 🍴: 🍖 Lamb Boneless (1/2kg): Succulent and perfectly spiced, it was the star of the meal – every bite was a flavor explosion. 🐟 Masala Fish: Perfectly cooked, tender, and infused with bold, aromatic spices – a true delight for the taste buds. 🫓 Garlic Coriander Naan: Warm, fluffy, and infused with just the right amount of garlic and coriander – the perfect pairing with the curries. 🍟 Chips: Crispy, golden, and a comforting addition to the feast. 🫓 Poppadoms with Dip Tray: A delightful starter that set the tone for an incredible meal, with dips that were bursting with flavor. 🍰 Chocolate Fudge Cake: Decadently rich and indulgent, a sweet finish that hit all the right notes. ☕ Kashmiri Chai & Doodth Pati: The Kashmiri chai was creamy and aromatic, while the doodth pati offered a comforting, homely touch – both teas were the perfect end to a fantastic evening.

A special mention to the ★OWNER★, whose exceptional service truly elevated the experience. Their attention to detail and personal touch made us feel valued and appreciated.

Mumtaz Restautant used to be a a good restaurant serving Pakistani Cuisine in a 4x3 m place (now approx. 20 x 10m, so not huge, upper floor remains empty whilst customers wait, maybe a way to pay less business rates). Also a national supermarket supplier of desserts and Lassi. We attended during Ramadhan and waited 10mins for table which was good. Glass of Zam Zam water was offered to open fast which is always a great touch. Staff were kind and gave hot water for babies milk and had good service skills. Nice prayer room facilities

Negatives However, NO FREE WATER after Zam Zam ! (Perhaps they don't know the facts behind Zam Zam!). Basic human right to provide. Are they really proud of that!

Tried to order spice free daal for child and was told NO the dish start at Medium and they can't make it! So why cannot Mumtaz make it at the extortionate prices charged!

Seekh Kebab were salty and looked like the meat was squashed into shape without a seekh at £6.50 for 2! Still charged on bill after returning back.

Had to ask waiter to bring glasses, then ask for napkins, then ask for drinks, then ask for sauces.

Having an outdoor revolving sign and a picture of the royal family during their visit in 1970, and shiny furniture and candles, will not bring in customers who know their food and prices within Yorkshire/Northwest. Times have changed and people want quality for money spent so time to change or face downturn and perhaps Mumtaz is now only concentrating on selling pre-packed to supermarkets and this restaurant is now just a side hustle!

Maybe Gordon Ramsey needs to visit...

Food was definitely overrated. I've been wanting to go here for years when visiting Bradford and decided to bite the bullet this time. I'd give it a 2/10. We ordered karahi rojash thing with roti and starters. Everything was premium except for the quality of the actual food. Karahi had big chunks of hard peppers and onion--like they weren't cooked to the perfect texture. Which it should be when you're charging £14 for it. It was cooked like how I'd cook it in a rush at home and not let the base ingredients blend with the meat and add flavour. Makes me wonder what B-Tech budget chefs they've got in the back lol. Menu was paper with pixelated images on the back which felt "cheap". Anyways, there was a hair in my poppadom (picture attached). None of the waiters spoke fluent English either. Overall, it was not up to par for the prices they're charging and the fact they're trying to be a premium brand. If you're from Birmingham, this place is nothing compared to our locals like Tipu Sultan or Poncho Kaana. Would not come here or recommend if your taste buds are experienced with desi food. A gorah would like this, not an aapna who's family can cook lol. Last visit for me.
