Glad we stopped for lunch, it was very good. Lovely old pub with a cosy and traditional interior. Surprisingly spacious with plenty of tables and a garden at the back. The beer was great, well kept and fresh. Really impressed to find a selection of good ales on tap. We also had lunch, the Pizza was very nice and fresh out of a proper pizza oven. The ham egg and chips was decent as well, nice ham and well cooked eggs. We often drive to Coggeshall for a walk, the little town is lovely. Definitely worth a visit if you want to stop for lunch or dinner.

Chef specials night. Set menu. Good food, good price! Would call to make reservation! Nice location. Nice building. Update. We've been back a few times and always enjoyed the food. Recently the vegan and vegetarian options have been limited. Hopefully just a covid thing. A nice place to visit. A nice mixture of a local pub and smart restaurant. They have an outdoor area with seating. No actual "pub garden". Dogs welcome in the bar area which has I believe 3 tables. I don't think they're allowed in the other areas.

Really lovely pub, very clean and nicely decorated with friendly staff. I went there today for brunch and it was delicious, much better than the cafes in the town centre. My only criticism is that the only orange juice they do is the bottled Schweppes kind - would be nice to have fresh orange juice with brunch.

I don't dispute the food is good and the staff are excellent, however I would like to say that on two occasions over, the past few weeks, our table booking has been cancelled just three days beforehand. The reason on the first occasion was the England football quarter finals. Apparently, their staff would not be able to get through the expected crowd to serve our meal! The second occasion was blamed on Open Table - they should have known that a family BBQ was booked and should not have accepted our booking. Personally, I think the family BBQ was expected to bring in more revenue, therefore, cancelled the few tables already booked. I'm sorry to put this review out there but I just don't feel that cancelling table bookings, with such flimsy excuses and at such short notice is good enough. Kathy &...

Hmmmm, drove all the way out to The Chapel Inn after reviewing their website and seeing positive comments and ability to allow dogs. Welcome was hostile and quick to say they don't allow dogs in the restaurant, totally understandable on that so quite happy to sit in the bar which only had one other party seated. Front of house had to ask management (!).

Wanted lunch and menu looked good, restaurant pretty empty even though this was jubilee weekend. We were a party of 2 and they couldn't feed us as lack of food and deliveries - on a 4 day bank hol weekend!? Front of house had to ask management again (!)

We had a...

Visited yesterday with family group of 11. We had prebooked our meals as it was said to help preparations for the staff. Food was lovely with exception of one starter being returned..but the actual service of food delivery wa notably poor. We waited an hour between starters and mains. We would've had a desert but after a total time of 2 hours we had to leave due to other commitments. Beautiful building and lovely food. I'd just recommend to others to allow time to actually receive their food as it seems our expectations for pre organisation seemed to catch out the staff! Would return if in the area but would allow...
