This has been high up on my list to visit for ages. Yesterday was finally that time as I took my best friend here for brunch as an early treat for her birthday. Honestly could have spent more hours in there. So cosy, inviting and friendly, you can tell the owners run this place with a lot of love and care. Feels like the perfect place to come with a loved one or friend for a gossip over tea, coffee and a bit of food. I had the scrambled eggs and mushrooms (had extra bacon too) and a pot of tea and it was delicious, my friend had the Welsh rarebit with added caramelised onion chutney and she really enjoyed it. We've endeavoured to come here again soon! Would highly recommend.

Amazing food, drinks and service. Very happy eating and drinking here. The food always tastes lovely and actually has decent flavours. Nothing comes across as fake. Definitely not expensive for the taste of the food as it's all freshly prepared/cooked like the lovely pancakes they do so very worth it. Do have a freakshake - only available in the school holidays which are a meal in themselves but oh soo good!!

I was only able to get a takeaway as all tables booked 😭. I saw this cake 🍰 on the stand and I couldn’t help myself. It was worth every single bite. The sponge was so light and moist, the jam filling perfectly sweet and added some texture and icing on top just finished the cake perfectly. I can’t wait to come back again and dine in next time!!

This was hands down the best cafe I have been to yet. Let me preface this by saying my partner and I frequent A LOT of cafes. This one is the best.

The setting is central to all the beautiful town has to offer, right next to the best pub in town, The Dog Inn (See my review).

The interior decoration is absolutely stunning. So warm and inviting, you could swear you'd been here a hundred times before. The staff are wonderful, the chefs, top of their game and the venue a treat to be in. I had the LBC breakfast and was blown away by the quality of every individual component that made up the best cafe breakfast fry up I've had. Now, it's not your typical huge plate filled with food because the quality is very much worth sacrificing the usual quantity and left me feeling more than satisfied anyway, with obviously nothing going to waste.

The Coffee on offer is robust and wonderful, the bakewell tart we were lucky enough to get a slice of when it was in circulation was mindblowing and I can't wait to visit again. It is a theme with the establishments here that you feel so at home and so happy to be a part of, you just don't want to leave. To the owners of The Little Book cafe if you see this, your cafe is a marvellous accomplishment and a part of the reason I shall be visiting your town again...

I have just moved to Halstead . I wanted to give this cafe the benefit of the doubt but i have to make this honest review as they need to improve their cuatomer service and rude attitude towards people . I attended and was told no tables availailable when clearly there was lots of tables available . I told them dont worry i will get a take away . If looks could kill honestly they have it . They seem to only want to serve certain people very judgemental . Now i was in my work clothes as i have numerous businesses and was on my way to work . I did get food which waa amazing but i wont go back because of their attitude . My partner on another day decided to try the cafe as he thought i may be over exagerating. My partner went on his own he is 60 years old and he received the same reception. Rude and judgemental . My daughtet has also tried the cafe and again lots of tables available but would not let her in as she had a pram . Its such a shame because like i said the food is amazing but your attitude and customer service stinks You should be ashamed of yourselves . Will be spreading the word to everyone not to...

Good morning, all I’m a professional chauffure from London walked into the little book cafe Saturday morning Got asked by a lady making a coffee on the machine straightaway !! look me up and down then gave me a dirty look. I asked her for breakfast for one. She started to make excuses that she was fully booked and she’s booked tables for the rest of the day. told me she has got no room for me not unless someone eating gets up straight away offered to take my phone number if a table comes available.😳 the real reason for this she never liked to look of me and she probably thought I was from the travelling community. #Gypsy,WhichI’im not 😡 I asking for a simple breakfast not a free...
