We wanted to buy ice cream from the Winners ice cream shop. We told the woman serving that we had food allergies and she said she would check ingredients on the labels. Then she said all the boxes of ice cream in the displays freezer had the wrong tops on them, so she started to sort them so she could find the ones we wanted. She couldn't find the ingredients list for the one we wanted, so she then decided that tasting the ice-cream would be sufficient to check for the flavour of the allergen. That was bad enough, but then we were utterly gobsmacked when she produced a spoon and tasted the ice-cream to see what flavour it was, that she then put the spoon that had gone into her mouth BACK INTO the tub to get another mouthful. Her total disregard for hygiene was appalling. Her lack of care with food allergies was negligible. Needless to say we decided NOT to buy any of the ice cream, as frankly, disregarding the fact that we didn't know whether they contained the allergens we needed to know about, we couldn't stomach eating ice cream from tubs that had most likely had germs from her mouth in them. Utterly disgusted with the place and one wonders what the hygiene is like in the adjoining...

Went to the Winners cafe on a Wednesday to waste time as I was getting my car mot'd. I had the winners breakfast whilst my mum had their ham and cheese toastie which was on as a special. The food came out in roughly 20 minutes of ordering which was quick considering that the place was relatively busy. The food came out as was piping hot (condsidering it also came with beans and toast) and you can definitely tell the quality of the food, the sausages were amazing and they managed to cook the eggs perfectly with runny yolk. My mums toastie was amazing and they filled it with plenty of cheese, it also came with salad and crisps which was a nice touch! Afterwards we still had time to waste, and be because the sun was out we treated ourselves to some ice cream which was also amazing! It was really creamy and the chocolate ice cream had small pieces of chocolate which was a nice surprise! Overall an amazing experience! The staff were amazing and really kind as well I will definitely come again when I'm...

I'm updating my previous 5 star review to 3 star. Been eating here for 3 years and always loved it. I've removed a star as the prices have gone up disproportionately to other places, it's nolonger a pop in and have something to eat on a whim. it's now too expensive for that and I believe they lose local custom. The second star is being removed as the lovely toast I've always eaten there has always been thick sliced with the amazing scrambled eggs. The toast the last few times is now thinner and nolonger works aswell in my opinion. saving on overheads while charging more is not good in my eyes. The staff as always are lovely. Service as always amazing and the freshly cooked food (apart from the toast) is perfe t as always. Still worth a visit but instead of visiting fortnightly. might be once or twice a year. I'd say something needs to change or business will suffer....

Was breakfast at Winners a winner? Pretty much, apart from our scrambled eggs not being funny as requested. Sunday brunch amid mobs of tattooed bikers and revving engines in a picture postcard setting has to be tried once. Sitting outside Winners in Finchingfield, I sat on my mummy's lap and shared the full veggie breakfast. All the usual suspects plus avocado and perfectly salted spinach. I was so convinced that the veggie sausages were pork I almost complained! The cakes are very good. Take it from a teddy bear! 🐻 The staff deal very well with the mayhem of this very busy period. There is a shallow ridge at the door freshold that may prevent wheelchair access to those that have limited arm strength.

When you get there it says :wait to be seated". We waited...and waited....and waited. Staff walked past.. ....then sat as there were plenty of tables. Nope, we chose the wrong one and was swiftly moved. Staff can move when they want to. Coffee machine broken so had to pay for a filter coffee. Scones were warm and gorgeous. The cake my friend has was like a doorstep! Advised likewise taste. Wooden tables and chairs. All food served looked good. Does a carvery. Had a sneaky look and that looked lovely too. Staff lovely when we got seated. Busy little location especially in summer. Popular with bikers of the cycling and machine variety.

My friends and I visited Winner’s for afternoon tea to celebrate my 30th birthday. Maria was so helpful and accommodating organising us a big group table and made us feel so welcome. It was made extra special with the 30th birthday cake toppers and confetti decorating the table. We had such a wonderful afternoon celebrating and enjoyed the delicious selection of homemade cakes, scones, sandwiches and sausage rolls. I would definitely recommend the service and hospitality at this sweet local tearoom!
