We wanted to buy ice cream from the Winners ice cream shop. We told the woman serving that we had food allergies and she said she would check ingredients on the labels. Then she said all the boxes of ice cream in the displays freezer had the wrong tops on them, so she started to sort them so she could find the ones we wanted. She couldn't find the ingredients list for the one we wanted, so she then decided that tasting the ice-cream would be sufficient to check for the flavour of the allergen. That was bad enough, but then we were utterly gobsmacked when she produced a spoon and tasted the ice-cream to see what flavour it was, that she then put the spoon that had gone into her mouth BACK INTO the tub to get another mouthful. Her total disregard for hygiene was appalling. Her lack of care with food allergies was negligible. Needless to say we decided NOT to buy any of the ice cream, as frankly, disregarding the fact that we didn't know whether they contained the allergens we needed to know about, we couldn't stomach eating ice cream from tubs that had most likely had germs from her mouth in them. Utterly disgusted with the place and one wonders what the hygiene is like in the adjoining...
Read moreWent to the Winners cafe on a Wednesday to waste time as I was getting my car mot'd. I had the winners breakfast whilst my mum had their ham and cheese toastie which was on as a special. The food came out in roughly 20 minutes of ordering which was quick considering that the place was relatively busy. The food came out as was piping hot (condsidering it also came with beans and toast) and you can definitely tell the quality of the food, the sausages were amazing and they managed to cook the eggs perfectly with runny yolk. My mums toastie was amazing and they filled it with plenty of cheese, it also came with salad and crisps which was a nice touch! Afterwards we still had time to waste, and be because the sun was out we treated ourselves to some ice cream which was also amazing! It was really creamy and the chocolate ice cream had small pieces of chocolate which was a nice surprise! Overall an amazing experience! The staff were amazing and really kind as well I will definitely come again when I'm...
Read moreIf you're a biker (of the self propelled or petrol powered) this is a must-go-to place. Finchingfield is a lovely picturesque village which somewhat ironically attracts tons of bikers on noisy machines (not a complaint, I have one...). Winners is a great attraction in isolation, but with the setting... well you just have to go. Food is excellent, fresh, tasty and portion size is generous without being of American proportions. The place is super busy, so service sometimes suffers a bit- they haven't quite got the hang of doubling the staff at busy times (like Sunday brunch-time), but all service is with a smile, friendly and welcoming. I've been here countless times, and will continue to do so. The roads around Finchingfield are pretty good biker paradise too (check out the B184 in...
