Sadly our stay did not fulfil expectations, or live up to the sumptuous promotional pictures on the hotel’s website. ||I booked Breckland Lodge as we were travelling for a friend’s wedding. ||We were checked in promptly, however when we got to our room which is apparently a superior double. (Room 14), sadly it did not live up to the title. ||The room itself has a Roman blind at the window. The top pleat of the blind was extremely dusty, there was a cobweb in the corner of the room, burn mark on the carpet, walls marked. The bed…. Mmmm! I had the worst night’s sleep in a very long time. The mattress hard and uncomfortable, there is no pillow choice option. The ones in the room were too firm. Even reducing to one did not solve the issue. ||The furniture is of really good quality, however cramped. The tea/ coffee facilities are on the desk in the room, meaning there is no working space or place to suitably do your hair and makeup. ||The bedside lamp on the side closest to the desk did not work. ||The bathroom is tired and shabby looking. Mouldy silicone around the shower, water marks on the ceiling. Sadly there was nothing superior about this room at all. ||If you are marketing as a superior room, cleanliness needs to be spot on, comfort also needs addressing as well as overall maintenance. ||Breakfast service was good, however there was a little wait between seating and our kitchen order being taken, to receiving our requested drinks. Having a self service station for orange juice and water would ease the wait whilst coffees etc are made. The cooked breakfast itself. Had we have paid for the breakfast received. I would have sent it back. Egg order was wrong, scrimped on portion sizes and no sautéed potatoes available even though they are listed on the breakfast menu. Certainly the breakfast that my partner and I received would not have set us up for the day. Cappuccino tasted as if it was made from a packet. ||To sum up. Tired, cramped and overpriced for what...
Read moreWe were looking for a good place to stay close to Norwich. This wasn’t it!|The reception areas are really quite nice and decorated well (as the promotional images show). |However, our accommodation was a different story altogether. Access to the bedroom was through a grubby tired passageway in a separate building. The carpets were badly stained and looked a little threadbare in parts.|Our room which was booked as a Premier Double Room was nothing like any of the promotional images on booking.com. The room was small, tatty and dirty. The bedside lamps didn’t match, looked odd and one shade was damaged. The walls were stained as was the carpet. The blinds didn’t reach the end of window and were dusty.|The good part was, the bed was nicely made (and clean) and the tea/coffee station was well stocked…. But that’s where the good parts end.||The bathroom consisted of a grubby plastic bath with a shower hose over. The water was scalding and we were unable to turn it down….we couldn’t shower! Separate toilet and sink (not the lovely vanity unit that was shown) The extractor fan was filthy and bathroom bin was old, damaged and dirty.|It was a room up in the attic eaves and again nothing resembling the lovely promotional images….I could go on….||Our experience in their restaurant didn’t fare any better. My food had been microwaved to within an inch of its life…blackened and burnt pasta and sauce. To be fair it was replaced with a better looking plate of food after I mentioned it was inedible.||On checking out, the guy on reception didn’t acknowledge me as speaking on his phone for what seemed like an age, so I left the key and walked out….. Thanks for asking if we enjoyed our stay…which we didn’t.||Booking.com promotes this facility as an 8.5 Very Good…..It most...
Read moreNice Hotel, but Rooms are Compact
I recently stayed at Breckland Lodge and overall, I had a pleasant experience. The hotel offers a lovely ambiance and provides a comfortable stay. However, I must mention that the rooms are quite compact and small. The hotel itself is well-maintained and has a welcoming atmosphere. The staff members were friendly and accommodating, ensuring a smooth check-in process. The common areas were clean and nicely decorated, creating a cozy environment. Unfortunately, the size of the rooms was a bit disappointing. While they were clean and adequately furnished, the limited space made it feel cramped, especially if you have a lot of luggage or need extra room to move around comfortably. Despite the compactness of the rooms, they were still functional and provided the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The beds were cozy, and the bathroom was clean and well-equipped. However, I would suggest considering a larger room option if available, especially for guests who prefer more spacious accommodations. Overall, Breckland Lodge is a nice hotel with attentive staff and a pleasant atmosphere. If you don't mind staying in a smaller room, it can still be a satisfactory choice. However, for those who prioritize ample space, it may be worth exploring other accommodation options. I hope this review provides helpful insights for future travelers considering a stay at...
