I do use Gary's Place from time to time, I sometimes enjoy a chip butty at home. And over many years, I have chosen Gary's as my first choice. His food is hot and correctly cooked, its no surprise he is so busy. He is a great guy and an asset to Watton, as a business man, and as a caring individual. I experienced an elderly gentleman, falling in the high street, not far from Gary's shop. Although it was a busy tea time rush in his shop, he got his staff to cover, and attended to the gentleman, took him to his home, and served the very elderly gentleman and his brother there fish and chips, and stayed with them until an ambulance arrived, to attend to his injured leg. After a long journey of 5 hours and 4 starving kids we decided on fish and chips and this was the closest to where we were staying and had good reviews. Unfortunately we turned up just as they were closing so couldn’t have the large cod that we wanted but instead ordered 6 medium which were plenty! The staff were welcoming and friendly and when we got home to feed everyone their food an extra piece of fish had been put in and an array of sauces also. We struggled to eat all of the food as there was loads but it was delicious and the fish was cooked perfectly and after our long journey it was so needed. We are only staying up here for a week but have already decided on our last night we will have fish and chips...

Sadly it’s gone downhill since the new management took over. Walked in last Thursday and it was empty. Waited at the counter where a worker was standing in the doorway scrolling on his phone. He knew I was there but waited two minutes before he decided to look up and acknowledge me.

He begrudgingly took my order but I evidentially spoiled his day by daring to give them my custom. Adem then came in and was at least a lot friendlier but the two other staff that were there that day were hopeless. A big change from the happy cheery faces of the people who used to work there before the takeover.
