We had visited Thorndon park, nearby (very good) on saturday june 8th & had met up for family reunion, 10 of us. The Bull wasnt such a green location, but we had lots of green in park. Shown seats, looked a bit dark & cramped, but it was fine & small playground outside for two little ones. All clean & tastefull decor. Three of us ordered belly pork. It looked rather small, but I had ordered extra veg.
Pork was in two pieces, underneath piece was darker & dried up & chewy. The other two had a whole piece attached to 'crackling'. My top piece was succulent & delicious, although I have perfected better crackling!
I told the waitress, she told another who came over, repeated it, she told ?manager & had to repeat again! Oh what a good way to upset lunch! I wasnt satisified with the explanation & if I ran the pub, I would've replaced the meal with a correct one, interrupting lunch once more, but instant apology. He did adjust the bill but I didnt see the bill.
I did speak to the owner & he couldnt have been more pleasant or understanding. We talked @ length.
He had spoken to kitchen, but no satisfactory explanation, only that meat had fallen apart & then added. But not before it had time to dry up. Anyway he suggested if we visited in future, he would make sure the incident wasnt repeated...
But we had all travelled a distance to get there, so I doubt if we will take up offer.
Thankyou Mr Bull in Brentwood. I darent lookup txt & your name, in case I lose this lengthy review! Someone in the kitchen knows what happened. Remember:- What goes around,...
Read moreWe went today to celebrate Fatherâs Day as a group of 5. We booked the table over a week ago and was really looking forward to this. When we arrived we were greeted by a staff member who wasnât particularly friendly, we got taken to our table and they left without saying anything. We looked at the menus and waited for someone to come and serve us. We waited for 30 minutes and no one came to our table, not even to say hi or anything at all. Me & my husband have been here not long ago and never had this issue, but to not even be acknowledged was shocking. After waiting for 30 mins and not even being able to spot a member of staff we decided to leave as this was unacceptable. When we left I saw 4 members of staff behind the bar chatting, I told them we have been waiting for 30 minutes and no one has come to us they proceeded to tell me that they are âshort staffedâ and we should have come to the bar to order but no one told us this so how could we have known? The guy who showed us to the table didnât mention anything to us. We didnât even get an apology or any sort of remorse, the service was the worst Iâve ever experienced especially when itâs for a special occasion. We then left and had to try find another place to be able to celebrate Fatherâs Day like we originally planned.
I really enjoyed our first visit but I donât think Iâll be returning to be served by teenagers who make it obvious they hate their job & donât want to be there. Would definitely avoid this place. Utterly shocking, if I could give 0...
Read moreArrived an hour early to find the table which had been reserved for us was right next to large table of fellas watching the football on the big screen. Needless to say it was very noisy not to mention we were really crammed in. I said the table wasn't at all suitable and asked if we could we be moved as we wouldn't be staying at that table, and the young lad said they were none as they were fully booked. We stayed for a few drinks at the bar and witnessed many tables become become free, yet none were offered proving that our business was utterly unimportant to them. Fortunately the Nags head pub is only stones throw away and they were very accommodating, and we had a real nice excellent value dinner in a great friendly atmosphere. If you want a few beers with the lads watching sports then this is the place for you, if however you are taking the Mrs or family out, I suggest you avoid this place. For the higher than average meal prices we expected a nice little restaurant, instead this is s noisy pub with crammed, a TV, plus big screen for the sports. We will not...
