I’ve been coming here over 20 years — easy. This place used to be a proper gem for Afghani/Pakistani desi food in Bristol. Rice, curries, pizzas, burgers — all bangin’. But these last 5 years? It’s like they’ve just given up. Standards have dropped off a cliff.
Yeah, they did some weak refurb — bit of glass at the front, trying to make it look posh. Don’t let it fool you. The inside’s still dead. The seating? Awful. You sink into the chairs, no support, can’t sit straight to even enjoy your meal. It’s uncomfortable and the place ain’t even clean — not by any decent standard.
Now the food — man, where do I start? The only thing still alright is the naan bread and the stuff they don’t have to make burgers etc & pizza are ok. Everything else? Tastes the same. Just dumped with a whole load of garam masala, no actual flavour, no care. You can’t even tell the difference between dishes anymore all you taste is the garam masala. What’s happening to the chefs?
And let me talk about the fish, ‘cause that used to be one of the best things here. They used to serve it flat, fresh out the fryer, full of flavour. Now? It comes out all curled up. Tough to bite, tough to enjoy. Tastes dead. No spice, no kick — just looks like someone dumped it in hot oil and forgot about it. Call that masala fish? Nah bruv, that’s just fried disappointment. Curries are full of over done masala and fish got no masala. Crazy.
This place has become bish bash bosh — rushed food, sloppy service, no frills, no soul. The guys behind the counter look lost. One don’t say much, other one looks like he’s sleepwalking or on the phone playing games or watching cartoons. Language barrier makes it worse — hard to even get a straight answe out of them.
The owners? Missing in action. Just on their phones behind in the kitchens, no control, no or little involvement. I remember back in the day, the chef use to come out and say hello and have a chat and would recommend us a dish, now you got these guys who just don’t give 2 hours. Feels like they made their money and now couldn’t care less what gets served or who walks out disappointed. It’s sad — real sad — because this place had so much potential and used to be a solid go-to.
Now? I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It’s inconsistent, unpredictable, and way off what it used to be. They need to wake up, sort the kitchen out, retrain the staff, and bring the heart back into the food. Until then, it’s a hard no from me.
Sort it out. Before...
Read moreGot to know about this restaurant from the cab driver(from Pakistan) who suggested us this as I asked him for best Pakistani/Afghani dish around Bristol for a typical Afghani dish. So I went with a bunch of friends(7 in total) to this shop which is just 2 mins from Bristol sweet Mart(BSM). And we ordered the following Full chicken tandoori(which came with fries, mayo, chilli sauce, hummus) Chicken tikkA sheesh kebab Chicken jalfrezi (2) Chicken dry masala Chicken biryani Garlic and plain naan(6&4 respectively) Channa bhaji Pepsi 2litres
Pros: The service was friendly. One of our friend was fasting and they gave him dates and juices(a jar full). Every single dish tasted good in its own way. They arrived quite fast and together The prices was so affordable and quantity was so filling. All the above costed us just 58£ which is brilliant to get in UK. Wide ranges of dishes compared to the other shops like kebabs, pizzas ( check my pics guy the menus)
Cons: I actually wanted to give five star for this takeaway (for the lovely , friendly people and fantastic prices) but had to settle with 4 for the below reasons
Items are not prepared freshly after the order rather they are prepared a while before. No toilets or hand wash No table service hence you will have to ask for everything from tissue to plates or food by going to the counter.
Having said all these, I wouldn't mind going there again as it is absolute worth going even with these cons. So would recommend to go there atleast once if you love Pakistani/...
