This pub has been my local for a couple of years and I've really loved it. Until today I've given it a 4 star review.

Today I paid for my drinks with my phone and because I'm so happy and comfortable in this pub I didn't look closely at the card machine when it was handed to me. Luckily I paid with my phone and my phone keeps a record of transactions. I turns out that instead paying £3 I'd just been charged £30! I managed to get the attention of the barman who said he'd give me a refund but was otherwise completely unconcerned. He handed me the card machine for a refund but the amount was wrong. He then told me that he'd undercharged me so he wasn't refunding me the whole amount. He hadn't told me this, it was lucky that I'd checked the amount. The difference was only a quid so I let it go but the whole experience made me rethink the level of trust that I place in the staff at this place. I'm going to double check all my bills in future.

Not a good experience. Such a shame because I used to really...

This pub is such a mixed bag! I love the vibe and the space, the friendliness of the staff, the family friendly environment, the beer and cocktails. It's my local and I have so many good memories here. However, whenever we come for food, it's always a disappointment. I've had soup that wasn't defrosted properly, dry chicken burgers, orders half delivered...or forgotten entirely! There has never been a time that we haven't waited less than forty minutes. For four meals, it's saddening and it's difficult to sing its praises when other places manage to bring food to the table within 20-25 mins.

When you wait so long you get frustrated, and for it to come and be below par - it makes it hard to justify the price you're paying for your meal and it can eclipse the general experience you've been having. I want so much to love this place in its entirety - but it's consistently under delivered on the food front and I would say that unless you stick to the pizzas, eat elsewhere and come here...

Downgrading my previous 3-star review (kept below) to 2 after our most recent visit. Came here as part of a group and all of us were disappointed with the food. Most of us ordered from the basic pizza menu and all were doughy and soggy in the middle. Bristol has a number of pizzerias and pubs that serve up pizzas and Greenbank is a long way off the best of them. It's hardly a pizza menu that's pushing any boundaries so at least do them well. A friend ordered the duck & potato hash, in which none of us could find a single shred of duck meat, the result being a very expensive pile of greasy potatoes. The pub also remains very pricey for what it is.

I don't really get the hype that The Greenbank generates. It's a good pub, don't get me wrong, with a decent selection of beers and good wine list, but there's nothing that sets it apart from a lot of other...

A friend and I visited The Greenbank on a quiet Tuesday lunch around 1pm, so we didn't have to wait very long for our food! We also weren't particularly hungry, so we decided to share the Harissa Spiced Aubergine pizza, and as my friend is a veggie, she was very happy with how many options she could have. Amazing stonebaked pizza with a sourdough like crust, beautiful autumnal flavours too! (Sorry no pictures taken, but I snapped the menu on my way out). I'd like to shout-out the lovely Corey who served us, they provided a friendly and welcoming vibe and made the visit to The Greenbank all the better. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Corey and the team! I'll be back soon with another friend as there's a big selection of 0% beer too as he's teetotal, but also a big pizza lover!

Good selection of beers but be aware there is an unspoken dresscode of patterned leggings and elaborate facial hair. Failure to comply will result in an immediate cheek swab and your D.N.A will be added to the "Human Kombucha" culture which they're developing in the undercrofts. My friend Neil said he saw some little guys in cloaks scuttling through the bar and they have entirely fur covered bodies and if they look you in the eye you get Chris de Burgh stuck in your head and go mad and have to kill yourself to make it stop. Nice pizzas.

Pleasant pub, good food, and it was great to see that they serve non alcoholic gin. More pubs should lean into the wide array of interesting non alcoholic drinks! Edit: since I enjoyed my first visit I thought I'd return for a Sunday roast. The food was excellent, service efficient and friendly but the venue itself was rather full of children and babies which made it somewhat difficult to enjoy. So if you're not keen on kids in pubs this isn't the Sunday roast you're looking for!
