Discovering Hamblins
We recently discovered Hamblins, a renowned establishment since 1950, while exploring Bristol. Our adventure began with a 40-minute walk from our accommodation.
A Warm Welcome
Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly chefs who set the tone for a delightful experience. The authentic fish and chips, featuring haddock or cod, exceeded our expectations. The light, crispy batter perfectly complemented the chunky, large fish pieces.
A Feast to Remember
We enjoyed our meal so much that we decided to try the chicken leg, and to our surprise, the generous owner gifted us an extra portion of chips. The homemade sauces - curry, garlic mayo, and tartar - were all made from scratch.
A Saucy Verdict
Here's our ranking of the sauces:
Garlic Mayo: Our top pick, the best mayo we've ever had.
Tartar Sauce: A close second.
Curry Sauce: A flavorful option.
A Memorable Experience

Read moreThis family run fish & chip shop, is my favourite in Bristol. I'm a regular visitor when I treat myself to fish, chips & curry sauce for lunch. I always buy extra for my work colleagues & they always remark on how good the chips are. They obviously use good quality potatoes & change the oil regularly. I love the fish too, its always fresh, beautifully white with a light crispy batter. The curry sauce is nice & thick, with the perfect amount of spice. Everything is always freshly cooked, to perfection. The guy who serves me, is super friendly. He makes me feel like a valued customer. He always welcomes me with a smile & occasionally when I place a big order, he throws things in for free. I highly recommend Hamblins to anyone who appreciates good quality food. It's not cheap, but it's...
Read moreIf you are looking for good quality food for excellent prices, then Hamblins Fish And Chips is the place you should check out.
They have a huge variety of top-notch food to choose from, every Thursday I get a two sausage meal from their lunch menu which contains two sausages where you can pick plain or battered a decent amount of chips and a drink all for £6.90 which is a fantastic price (I would recommend the getting battered sausage as the coating thin and very is tasty and crispy.)
Another excellent choice is their fish and chips, which you just have to get their homemade curry sauce to go with it. The burgers are also another great item to get, as you can tell from the taste that they have been made with great love and care, and that goes with the rest of the food that...
