I took visiting family out for breakfast here last weekend and we loved it. The owners were really friendly and create a great atmosphere. The food was unpretentious, tasty food, really nicely cooked, and the portions were enormous. The coffee was fantastic - hands down the best coffee I've had in Bristol. And the prices were so reasonable, I had to check they hadn't made a mistake and undercharged us.
In an area where a lot of the restaurants and bars fall into the two extremes of either rough dives or peak hipster, this place is just pleasingly in the middle - really nice, but not overpriced or poseurishly chefy, and it's a place where I think pretty much anyone would feel comfortable and at home. We ordered fish and chips, chicken burger, omelet and BLT, which came very quickly and were really good. On the menu there were also four Sunday roast options, lasagna, shepherds pie, chicken or chickpea curry, salads, some Turkish dishes and some other things I don't remember. The lady behind the counter was nice enough but the chef behind (who is maybe also the owner or an employee?) looked blankly at me as i said hello then looked away. Once the food was done he brought the food to the counter and just put it down looked at me and walked away.
