Very mixed experiences here in the past 3 years I've lived in the area. Sometimes coffee is delicious, sometimes it's burnt - it wasn't today thankfully. Pork sausage rolls are always a winner. Pain au choc's are huge, but you'll be left disappointed with the amount of chocolate actually found in it. I've always found it disappointing they don't have more pastries, particularly almond or fruit based. That being said, their brownies and cookies are delicious.

Today I opted for the "sweet" option of the brunch menu of a French toast with coconut sugar, peaches, lime zest creme fraiche, and mint. Firstly, change the serving to a plate, it is genuinely difficult to eat this from a bowl. As for the food itself, the peaches were hard and unfortunately not that sweet as it hadn't had a chance to ripen. Also, if you're serving mint with the dish to complement the flavours, shred it and distribute so it can be part of a mouthful rather than just chucking leaves on top that get left behind because who wants to eat whole leaves of mint. Finally, the creme fraiche wasn't zingy from the lime, it was just a very savoury flavour on what could/should have balanced with the sweetness of the peaches and the coconut sugar but overall the dish was just very savoury tasting as there wasn't enough sugar or syrup to counteract the salted butter you presumably used to fry the toast in which was unfortunate.

I would have passed this on to one of your servers today directly had they asked but she didn't - this was after I had to walk after her and actively ask her if I could pay despite seeing me waiting behind another guy who paid her for wine - I appreciate it was an incredibly busy Sunday morning service but any sort of acknowledgement would have sufficed to say "I'll be with you shortly" so I didn't feel like I was being completely ignored whilst just wanting to pay and leave. The service up to that was point was friendly and a little slow (can't be helped super busy, so not a...

I've been coming to The Bristol Loaf on and off for years, and unfortunately, not much has changed—especially when it really needs to. The cafe menu has been more or less the same for as long as I can remember, with no creativity or updates to keep things fresh. If you're looking for something new or exciting, you won't find it here. The seating situation is also disappointing. The back yard, which could be a lovely escape, feels completely neglected— empty boxes, dry plants, little to no upkeep, and an overall uninviting atmosphere. It’s not a place where you’d want to sit and relax with a coffee. The Loaf still serves the best bread in Bristol—there’s no doubt about that. The quality and craftsmanship in their loaves remain top-notch. However, when it comes to cakes and food, they just don’t hit the same mark. The selection feels uninspired, and with so many great spots popping up around the area, the competition is stronger than ever. It’s a shame because this place has the potential to be a standout in more...

This is the best bakery in Bristol - hands down. Fully certified ORGANIC BREAD! Huge array of VEGAN tray bakes and cakes. This is the place to be on Church road! Excellent organic coffee and moreish cakes to die for! They look absolutely stunning, every time, and you can tell each item is made with love by people who are passionate about what they are doing! They always use the highest quality ingredients available... Hangry's taste buds do not lie! Nice selection of freshly made salads in the summer, and wholesome soups and stews for the autumn and winter. I had the beef stew last week and it was absolutely jammed packed full with some of the most tender beef I've ever had! The staff are super friendly and helpful, and you can tell the bakers and cake makers are highly skilled in their fields. Their delivery driver was also a true gentleman. There's always great background tunes and nice cafe vibes. A little secret gem in Bristol....

I ordered it for my husband's birthday and it was an absolute hit. Not only did everyone at the party thoroughly enjoy it, but it was so delicious and visually stunning that my friend decided to order it for her husband's birthday as well. This was our second time indulging in this delightful treat, and I must say, it exceeded our expectations once again. The cake itself was moist, flavorful, and simply heavenly. The intricate design showcased true craftsmanship. Alongside the cake, I also tried their coffee, which was absolutely amazing. The combination of the exquisite cake and the fantastic coffee made for a truly memorable experience. If you haven't tried the Bristol Loaf cake yet, I highly recommend giving it a try. You won't be disappointed! #BristolLoafCake #DeliciousDelights #CoffeeLovers #TwoThumbsUp"

The sign says "any" pastry but then you try to purchase any pastry and they say "no, not that pastry" and you ask why and it is because some of the pastries are "special". I get that some pastries are special but it doesn't make your customers feel very special when you mislead them like that. Theres probably some law against this, but then again Bakesmiths don't display their prices anymore and that's for sure a big legal no-no. It seems honesty in the fine category of baked goods is no longer baked into the hearts of bakers everywhere 😞. I miss the days of honest bakeries like Greggs, Kingsmill and Delice De France 😞.
