Me and my wife stayed for two nights at the B&B and had a meal one of the nights as had a wedding the other night.
The rooms are a good size, lovely bathroom and clean. I would say excellent value for money if you take the en-suite room. I would not say the rooms have been recently re-furbished as the website suggests, but nothing wrong with them.
The breakfast in the morning is quality. You get a Full English (even fried bread) or a choice of eggs plus there is cereal. If I could I would have that particular English Breakfast every day.
The meal in the evening was another winner, and staff very good. My wife was not totally blown away by the cod dish, but everything else was great. If I had to make one negative about the meal, it would be the limited wine list...but I'm being very picky as we had the Chablis and it was good.
Location is excellent and easy to find. Staff very friendly and really helpful.

Β Β Β Read moreSorry to be negative as there are so many good things, excellent staff and service, food good albeit a bit pricey. redecorated since last visit and refurbished gents' toilet excellent as thought I was in a different pub to the previous visit. However our evening and meal was spoilt by the excessive noise from a large group 10/12 with several dogs (2 huge dogs) from the bar. So loud we could not hear each other talk. To be fair the senior waitress moved us further away after our starters but still too noisy so it ruined the evening for us 8 and the other people eating in the bar section who were also visibly hacked off. My observation to the new owners is you have to choose whether to be a pub or restaurant as it is not big enough to be both. As a customer I recommend you should choose the restaurant to eat. Sad thing is that we won't go again as there are so many excellent places to eat...

Occuping a lovely position close to the river, the Kings Head offers a traditional pub environment, its clean, hospitable and well managed with lovely, smiling, first class, staff behind the bar. The food ( salmon) we had was excellent, well prepared and we were all very pleasantly surprised how good it was. The staff waiting on the table were efficient and attentive. Full marks to the chef for the food. However, the 'house' wine was extremely disappointing. While it may not have been particulary expensive it did not compliment the high standard delivered by the chef. I have taken the trouble of mentioning my disappointment with the house wine, especially when they are offering much better quality wine for sale. at the bar. Unfortunately, it simply didn't do the food justice hence I've...
