Bar 37 — Restaurant in Broxbourne

We arrived at 7, the place was completely empty inside and just a few people in the garden, which slowly filled. We ordered a drink and some tomato bread and 2 chicken skewers to share. We bought a bottle of wine as we planned to sit for the evening with food from the tapas menu. At 8.20 we were told they could not take any orders because they had a backlog and no more food. We explained that we could not drink a whole bottle of wine without anything to eat but the staff were completely unapologetic. They told us the kitchen always shuts at 9 because they need 2hrs to clean, which is not mentioned on the menu. The staff were extremely rude, shouting at times and the owner, 'Ollie', should seriously consider some training in management and people skills; he was abusive at times. Disgusting behaviour from the manager with no people skills. We will never return after our food and wine was cleared from our table Inside whilst we used the garden even though I informed them we were going outside for a bit. He refused to reduce the bill and then swore at us several times in front of a bar full of people. He was aggressive, rude, intimidating and a disgrace to the community. Phoned to book a table and were told they wouldn’t take a booking for around 6.30 for a Saturday, but to come along as we would probably be able to get a table. Got dropped off at 6pm and surprise surprise, no tables available. The woman running this was so rude and didn’t even try to accommodate us. It would appear that if you are known you can book on the phone, if not they won’t entertain you. Disappointing customer service in a time when the whole hospitality industry is almost on its knees.
