Hackberries — Restaurant in Broxbourne

Where do I start with Hackberries? Over the last few months I’ve become a regular at this beautiful and elegantly designed bistro. The relaxing atmosphere and aesthetically pleasing surrounding goes hand in hand with the delicious food served at Hackberries.

I can recommend almost everything on the menu. From the Turkish breakfast to the Veggie Wrap, Dirty Fries and the French Toast. There’s a wide variety of options to meet your dietary preferences. The coffee is out of this world and don’t get me started on the iced coffee. Never been a big fan of iced coffee but I was recommended to try it and I have it every time I come here. The smoothies are also a great choice!

It’s a family run business who have the utmost care for customer service. They’ve created a lovely environment for people to come in and have a meal with family and friends or even if you wanted to just relax in the beautiful garden and maybe get some work done on your laptop.

I honestly can’t recommend this place enough, I find my self spending some of my free time here even after eating and drinking. Definitely a feel good vibe!

This morning I ordered a mozzarella, tomato and pesto sandwich with an Iced Vanilla Latte. I was charged £9.40 for these items and the sandwich was packaged, so I checked it once I went outside and it was white toast bread all mushed together. I didn’t understand why this basic sandwich had cost so much so I went inside to ask how this had happened. The elderly male behind the counter told me in a very disrespectful manner “you ordered a sandwich didn’t you?” “We have our prices at the front”. Which is fair enough but I expected at least a panini, not white toast bread. This elderly gentleman then decided to grab my sandwich out my hand, squeeze it, and also grab my coffee and chuck them behind the counter. The customers sat at the tables watched in shock. He reached into the till and gave me a £10 note back and told me to get out, which is all well but I paid in card so would’ve expected my refund in card. I would like to tell you all of my experience at this cafe. I went here expecting to enjoy a nice brunch, however was left tremendously disappointed. From the moment I walked in the customer service was poor. Poor mannered staff, and did not feel a welcoming at all. The plates and cutlery were all filthy. I do not understand how you expect customer to eat off of dirty dishes, I wouldn’t dream of this!! After I vocalized this, I was still forced to pay for my food. I feel that I’m owed a full refund for the food as it was below standards. I would give this service a 1 star, or even less if the rating was available. There is another cafe bistro up the road called Reyna, which I would say is much better. They clearly hire better quality of staff and care for their customers. Avoid at...
