Raj Mahal — Restaurant in Broxbourne

Having lived in Hoddesdon for over a year I have driven past this Indian on many many occasions. On the outside it looked pretty well presented and thought I'd definitely order a takeaway..

So earlier tonight after a hard days graft I decided to scrap the horrible tasting Indian food I've had from the many available takeaways from Just Eat and ventured to order one direct from the Raj Mahal.

Had order a chicken vindaloo with keema rice, a naan, mixed kebab and a few poppadoms.

However I was somewhat disappointed with the quality.

Food arrived on time but was cold to the touch.

Dished the vindaloo and rice.. sat down started eating and Jesus my plate may as well have been put in the chip fryer! The keema rice was just so extremely greasy accommodating no taste at all thus the vindaloo actually tasted more like a light spiced madras. To top it off the onion bajis just had no taste neither not to mention on cutting in half it was so dry inside yet dripping with grease on the outer. They looked as though they had been prepped a day before as they didn't taste fresh at all.

Overall not a very pleasant experience food wise so probably won't order again though who knows..

My search still goes on for the vindaloo that hits the spot perfectly.

Apologies for being a bit harsh and I'm many of you have had a good experience for many years but unfortunately I didn't hence why I've had to write this review.

My review from 5 years ago : Really good Indian restaurant, would recommend it. My review now: we used to love this restaurant. The food was good, the owner was lovely and the service was on point. We started seeing the service going down, becoming increasingly slow over the pastfew years. We went there again tonight. We waited 1 hour to place our order ( we asked 3 times to place our order) and 2 hours to be served our food!! We only stayed because we were celebrating our daughter's good school report and she asked to come to this restaurant. We were not the only ones complaining about the very poor service.
